HONG KONG.- Phillips announced the appointment of Terry Chu to lead the company’s Jewellery Department in Hong Kong, one of the world’s most important markets for the acquisition of fine jewellery. The company also announced that Anellie Manolas is joining Phillips as a jewellery specialist in Hong Kong.

Ms. Chu will design and implement a strategy for the Asian expansion and development of Phillips’ jewellery business, one of the fastest-growing categories in the auction world. The development of the jewellery department is part of Phillips’ significant expansion of its Hong Kong operations. After the company’s first two successful watch sales in Hong Kong, Phillips plans to hold its inaugural sales of 20th Century & Contemporary Art, Design and Jewellery in Hong Kong later this year. In the past year, Phillips hired Jonathan Crockett as Deputy Chairman and Head of 20th Contemporary Art in Asia, along with Sam Hines as International Head of Watches, both based in Hong Kong.

Ms. Chu joins Phillips from Sotheby’s, where she was the Deputy Head of Jewellery in Hong Kong. During her 14 years with Sotheby’s, she was responsible for client development, valuations and property collecting throughout Asia, working extensively in Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.

Ms. Manolas joins Phillips from Bonhams, where she was a specialist in charge of the Australian jewellery department. During her time there, the department developed into the leader for international jewelry auctions in Australia. Prior to Bonhams, she worked at Christie’s for the London and Dubai jewellery sales.
