RIGA.- From 7 April to 14 May 2017, Krista Dzudzilo’s personal exhibition The Sixth Creation of the World is on show in the Creative Studio of the ARSENĀLS Exhibition Hall of the Latvian National Museum of Art in Riga (Torņa iela 1, 2nd floor).

With this exhibition, the Creative Studio of the ARSENĀLS Exhibition Hall of the Latvian National Museum of Art (LNMA) resumes regular functioning, offering its visitors contemporary art projects and solo exhibitions of promising young artists.

In the exhibition The Sixth Creation of the World, Krista Dzudzilo continues her artistic practice – finding relationships among such fundamental processes as creation, life, time and personal experience of the past. Regardless of medium – either painting, video installations or objects – Krista Dzudzilo’s works possess laconic clarity. Their message and form is polished to the purity of a sign or even a symbol.

Krista Dzudzilo’s new project is a unified exposition made specially for the hall of the Creative Studio of ARSENĀLS – a video installation with objects in space. Its structure is based on Austrian composer Gustav Mahler’s (1860–1911) Symphony No. 6. The author imbues the idea of the creation with concreteness by leading the viewer not towards a poetic generalisation of feeling but closer to reality. The relationship between the creation of the world, the symphony and life is fundamental in the artist’s work.

Krista Dzudzilo (1989) earned a bachelor’s degree from the Department of Painting (2013) and a master’s degree from the Department of Visual Communication (2016) at the Art Academy of Latvia. She has held five solo exhibitions, of which the exposition with the video installation Clarity was nominated to the Purvītis Prize in 2015. The artist takes part in group exhibitions in Latvia and abroad.

Krista Dzudzilo works in tandem with her husband – scenographer Reinis Dzudzilo (1987). They held two personal exhibitions in 2015: wil?* *what is love? in kim? Contemporary Art Centre and One Spectator’s Visit in the Creative Studio of ARSENĀLS Exhibition Hall. Meanwhile in 2016, both artists took part in the international contemporary art festival Sculpture Quadrennial Riga with their object in public space Respice post te. Hominem te memento.

Krista Dzudzilo works in theatre, together with Reinis Dzudzilo creating the visual idea – costumes and scenography – of a performance. In 2016, she received the Spēlmaņu nakts award as Best Costume Designer of the Year.
