DALLAS, TX.- Bidders from Europe and Asia drove high interest during Heritage Auctions' May 25 20th Century Design featuring Tiffany, Lalique and Art Glass Auction in Dallas. With bids coming in steadily across all Heritage bidding platforms, 95 percent by value of the lots sold.

"Overall, we saw a lot of interest in the design and studio glass objects. Bidders from around the world bid on the nearly 500 pieces available, and there was considerable activity from bidders in Europe and Asia. An impressive number of Lalique pieces sold, and I think that is a testament to the diversity and quality of the lots offered," said Nick Dawes, Vice President of Special Collections The next Tiffany and Art Glass auction will be held November 14 in Dallas.

Among the runaway bidding for Modernist studio glass offerings, a gorgeous multi-hued 21st-century piece by Toots Zynsky, Glass Bowl realized $8,125 and Dino Rosin's Maternity, an alexandrite and calcedonia glass piece late 20th century, exceeded expectations by going for $3,750.

A 1952 Pablo Picasso's Pichet a Glace, from the collection of Dallas philanthropists and world travelers Flo and Fred Weidemann, sold for $37,500 against a $10,000-15,000 pre-sale estimate.

Spanish-American artist Jose de Creeft's Lovers in Embrace, 20th century, marble sculpture from the estate of legendary purveyor Robert Gringold sold for $18,750.

Art glass did very well with a near perfect sell-through of Lalique objects. A gorgeous R. Lalique Peacock Blue Glass Borromee Vase, circa 1928, realized $25,000, a Thomas Webb & Sons Red Cameo glass vase designed by George and Thomas Woodall, from the 1889 Paris Exposition, sold for $17,500 and a ceramic Martin Brothers Glazed Stoneware Baby Bird Vase, circa 1880, hammered for $15,000, continuing Heritage's ongoing success with these remarkable pieces.

Daphnis et Chloé was created during one of the most prolific periods for new ballet choreography. The set design from the Studio of Leon Bakst pre-dates the Great War. It is recognized to be a product of his magical period, The Landscape with Shepherds, Set Design for the ballet "Daphnis et Chloé," performed at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, 1912, was the top lot of the 20th century design sale with a final price of $40,000.
