NEW YORK, NY.- Christie’s New York announces the June 21 Rare Watches and American Icons auction. The sale will be led by The Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Cartier Tank. This historically important watch, being sold with an accompanying painting by Jackie, was previously unknown to the public and offers two of the most important historic artifacts to surface in recent years from the golden era of the President Kennedy’s Administration. (Estimate: $60,000 – $120,000).

The New York auction will offer 250 lots with fresh-to-market property and many mint condition modern pieces with estimates ranging from $2,000 to $1,500,000. Highlights will include modern, vintage and sport watches from Audemars Piguet, Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Omega, Patek Philippe, Rolex, Richard Mille, Heuer and many more. The sale will also offer highly sought-after Cartier Art Deco Clocks & Accessories from a Private Collection. This carefully curated selection will offer exceptional objets dating from the early to mid-twentieth century, such as A Very Fine 18k Gold, Silver and Diamond-set Polyhedral Desk Clock, Designed by R. Emmerson, Circa 1958 (estimate: $80,000 - $120,000).

The sale will present an “American Icons” section that comprises property of prominent American athletes, celebrities and well-known personalities including watches once belonging to Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Bob Hope, President Lyndon B. Johnson, JJ Astor, and more.

Public preview of this sale includes full exhibition at Christie’s 20 Rockefeller Center Galleries June 16th -20th as well as a highlight exhibition in Los Angeles June 6th-9th.
