BEND, OREGON.-The Associated Press reported that a hand-blown glass sculpture valued at $50,000 was stolen from the Mockingbird Art Gallery this week, the third piece to vanish from the Bend gallery since November. The Dale Chihuly artwork, titled "Moccasin Brown Desert Basket Set with Turquoise Blue Lip Wrap," disappeared from the gallery, according to a Bend Police Department incident report.
The artwork was stolen during the gallery’s normal business hours on Monday, said Pamela Claflin, owner of the Mocking Gallery. Two other pieces of artwork previously were stolen from the gallery during business hours in recent months. In January, a sculpture, titled "Secret Admirer," disappeared from its pedestal display near the gallery’s front desk. The price tag on the art was $3,200. And in November, "Eagle Mask," a contemporary wall sculpture that was selling for $1,950, was stolen, also reported the Associated Press.
