SAN FRANCISCO, CA.- The art of Storm Thorgerson is among the most recognizable of the past half-century and his influence on popular culture cannot be overstated. This historic exhibition, Lovers of Covers, is the first of its kind and Storm's most comprehensive to date, featuring more than 60 works of art.

Highlights include Storm's distinguished covers for Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel, Paul McCartney, Steve Miller and a broad range of new performing artists. A special treat will be the unveiling of many extremely rare original works of art and artifacts that have appeared on the album covers Storm created. Viewing these unique treasures is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The Lovers of Covers exhibition kicked off on Saturday, August 14 at the invite-only reception. Storm flew in from London to attend the opening with his Hipgnosis design partner, Aubrey Powell.

The opening of Lovers of Covers coincides with the final editing of the film documentary, Taken By Storm: A Film About Storm Thorgerson and Hipgnosis, by director Roddy Bogawa. Excerpts from the film will be shown during the exhibition.

Storm Thorgerson was born in Potters Bar, which was in Middlesex at the time and is now in Hertfordshire. He was a key member of the British graphic art group Hipgnosis, and designed many of their most famous single and album covers. Latterly, he runs a design studio called StormStudios - a loose group of highly talented freelancers. The current line up includes - Rupert Truman (Photographer), Peter Curzon (Designer), Finlay Cowan (Designer and Illustrator), Daniel Abbott (Designer and Artist), Lee Baker (Designer, Retoucher and Artist) and Jerry Sweet (Designer).
