NEW YORK, NY.- What is it about casinos that these houses of gaming some of the most amazing complexes in the world? Well, obviously, you might think, it’s because of the massive amounts of money that are pumped into them year on year! While this is true to at least some degree, some casinos actually started with a huge bang – massively ambitious projects, designed to draw big crowds from near and far, for years to come. Some do achieve this goal and go on to become major players in the casino industry, and some fail – either bought out and the reigns handed over, or shut unexpectedly, and then left to rot until the next person comes along with some grandiose idea for the space.

The United States is home to some of the most instantly recognizable casinos in the world. This is despite the fact that casinos are outlawed throughout the majority of the country. Vegas is a mecca for casino enthusiasts, and for good reason, however, that doesn’t mean that you should ignore some of the lesser known and accessible casinos out there across the rest of the country.

In today’s article, we take a look at 5 of the most iconic casino designs in the US – the home of extravagance, and yes, sometimes outright elegance.

1. The wow factor at Mandalay Bay
If any place knows how to wow customers, then it’s Vegas’s Mandalay Bay – the casino that features not only an aquarium and shark tunnel, but their very own tram to connect 3 of the strip’s wildest casinos – the Mandalay Bay Tram. The tram connects some of the coolest casinos in the hood and is free for punters to ride, taking in the Tropicana – Las Vegas Boulevard Intersections, the Excalibur Hotel and Casino, the Luxor Hotel, and, naturally, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. All three hotels are MGM owned. While the gaming floors of Mandalay Bay are a sure winner, there are still thousands of other people that flock to the site to take in the amazing pools (and pool parties), golden towers, plush designer rooms, and luxury surrounds. The House of Blues music hall, located in the complex, hosts some amazing musical entertainment experiences – most recently the legend that is Santana, plus the Libertine Social restaurant is a shining star. The Mandalay Bay is truly a first class resort experience.

2. It’s fun all round at Margaritaville
If you’re looking for a rockin good time, then it’s hard to go past the bright lights and even brighter colors of Margaritaville in Bossier City, Louisiana. With a super cool, tropical theme, Margaritaville doesn’t take itself too seriously – it’s a place in which to play the tables as well as play up. The design of spaces plays into a tropical adventure, which encourages players and guests to embrace the child-like elements of play. If you could possibly imagine a Louisiana oasis, then Maragaritaville is bound to be it. With the full range of facilities on offer, including a 30,000 square foot casino, 50 different table games including blackjack, poker, roulette, and craps, over 1200 different slot machines, a plethora of dining options to choose from, and rooms starting from just $69, it’s hard to go past this fun-filled adult fantasy land. Margaritaville represents the best casino gambling experience of the south so give it a whirl if you’re in the neighborhood.

3. Are we in Venice?
When it comes to experiences that are right up there, the thrill of feeling like you’re being transported to another place entirely is one of the best – and it’s all possible at the Venetian in Las Vegas. The Venetian offers unparalleled luxury, mimicking the Italian city that it is derived from. With grand archways, celebrity chefs, dazzling chandeliers, the best sports bar in Las Vegas, a 40 foot climbing wall, a mini-Italy in St Mark’s square, and columns galore, the Venetian offers customers the Italian experience without having to leave the US. The hotel offers expertly designed rooms, ornately sculpted interiors and towering exteriors, and stunning bathrooms. Even more amazingly, this complex offers punters the authentic experience with a trip on their Old World gondolas – a definite must do at the hotel. Don’t forget to take in the iconic Madame Tussauds wax museum for a giggle or two before you leave.

4. Go big or go home
You wouldn’t think that the largest casino in the United States would fair well on design elements, or even that it would be located anywhere other than Vegas – however Foxwoods is both these things. Foxwoods Resort Casino is the US’s largest casino, clocking in at over a staggering 9,000,000 square feet in total, and is located in Connecticut on Mashantucket tribal land. The sprawling casino complex features twin hotel towers, a range of restaurants including a Hard Rock Café, over 5,500 slots machines, plus tables galore including poker, blackjack and roulette. The complex is literally huge - it can take an hour just to walk from one end to the other, and there are artistic touches such as statues and chandeliers throughout the entire site that show a lot of thought has gone into the design of the place. The mega complex also includes a designer mall with over 85 specialty stores in which patrons can shop until they drop.

5. There’s no going past the Bellagio
As far as iconic US casinos go, there is no going past the Bellagio. The Bellagio is an instantly recognizable casino and hotel complex masterpiece, even just from the jaw-dropping façade. Whether you’ve remembered it from the Oceans 11 movies, or as one of the date spots they’ve taken contestants on in The Bachelor, you’ll find the brilliant exterior, the fountains of the Bellagio, one that you’ll have fond memories of already – and that’s without even taken a step inside this spectacular casino and hotel. Inside there is old world grandeur aplenty, with soft, golden lighting, that old days feel, replete with sweeping cavernous rooms and columns, as well as a dizzying array of pools in which to lounge around in. The Bellagio is well known for being one of the best hotels on the Las Vegas strip, and it’s not hard to see why. The hotel is like something straight out of a fairytale, and offers punters the true luxe experience. Of course, the most stunning thing about the Bellagio is the huge fountain display, but the interiors are something to behold, too.

As far as iconic casinos go, these five would have to be right up there. While there are many iconic designs in casinos, especially on the Las Vegas Strip, you don’t have to head out on holidays to experience the casino experience at home or on the go. These days, you can check out sites like NodepositRewards that can give you those table and slot games you love, all from your mobile or laptop. While it’s not exactly what we’d call the full luxury designer experience, it is a little bit of a fix until you get to go on your next gambling holiday – whenever that may be.

If you haven’t visited one of these 5 iconic US casinos, then maybe put them into the mix when you are considering taking off next time. We think that you’ll be happy to tick any one of these off your casino bucket list!
