HELVOIRT.- Following a period of re-structuring, TEFAF, the organisation behind TEFAF Maastricht, TEFAF New York Fall and TEFAF New York Spring, today announced the final five appointments to its Board of Trustees. In addition, the size and structure of both the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee have been reviewed to ensure clear governance for the organisation moving forward.

It was agreed that the ideal number of members for the Board of Trustees is between 20-25, of which fewer than 50% are non-dealers. In addition, the Executive Committee should be composed of seven people – four dealers and three non-dealers. The dealers should be Chairman Antiquairs, Chairman Modern and Chairman Pictura plus one other dealer.

The TEFAF Board of Trustees new members:

CHRISTIAN HEMMERLE
Christian Hemmerle is the fourth-generation of his family to run Munich-based jewellers Hemmerle and has been at its helm for over a decade. Founded in 1893, Hemmerle is widely considered to be one of the world’s most inventive jewellers and is renowned for its unique works. Christian has brought Hemmerle to the international market having expanded the company’s reach to the USA, UK and Asia through museum exhibitions, private shows and fairs. He studied at The European Business School in London, the Gemological Institute of America and New York and is trained in diamond cutting.

DR CHRISTOPHE DE QUÉNETAIN
Christophe de Quénetain is CEO of Sarl Christophe de Quénetain, which was established in 2001 and specialises in fine and decorative art from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Throughout his career, Quénetain has written biographies on numerous eighteenth-century French artists including Pierre Garnier (1726/27-1806) and François Garnier (d.1760). In 2005, he also published Les Styles Consulat et Empire, Collection des Styles and he will publish monographs on Nicolas Besnier (1686-1754), Adrien Dubois (1715-1757) and ÉtienneBarthélémy Garnier (1759-1849). He has been awarded the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Art et des Lettres.

DINO TOMASSO
Dino Tomasso is recognised internationally for specialising in important European sculpture from the early Renaissance to the Neo-Classical periods, with a particular knowledge of European Renaissance bronzes. Dino advises the Arts Council of England’s Reviewing Committee on the export of works of art and objects of cultural interest and is a board member for London Art Week. Dino is co-founder of Tomasso Brothers Fine Art, which was established in 1993. In 2012, Tomasso Brothers Fine Art was one of the sponsors of the landmark show ‘Bronze’ at the Royal Academy of Arts, London.

PAUL SMEETS
Paul Smeets is director of the Rob Smeets Old Master Paintings gallery, based in Geneva. He graduated with highest honours in Modern History at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan, and was granted a scholarship to further the studies of his dissertation on ‘The History of Art in Antiquity’ by J.J. Winckelmann. Following this, he completed his education and training by working in the Old Master Paintings department at Sotheby’s in London. Established in 1989, the gallery deals mainly in Dutch, Flemish, and Italian Old Master paintings, specialising in the 16th and 17th centuries.

PETER KERBER
Peter Kerber is a curator at Dulwich Picture Gallery, London, and previously worked as a curator in the paintings department of the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles.
