NEW YORK, NY.- Doyle's auction of Fine Paintings on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 11am offers over 150 works by a wide range of by American, European, Latin American and Asian artists with moderate pre-sale estimates.

The sale offers a selection of works by Russian and Ukrainian artists encompassing Post-Impressionism, including examples by Elie Anatole Pavil, Jean Miscelslas Peské and Jean Pougny. Theatrical and costume design offers works by Pavel Tchelitchew, Alexandra Exter, Alexandre Nikolaewich Benois, Sergei Yurievich Soudeikine, Eugene Berman and Mihail Chemiakin.

French Impressionism, Post-Impressionism and Modernism are represented by such artists as Henri Le Sidaner, Édouard Vuillard, Jean Dufy, Raoul Dufy, Louis Valtat, Achille-Émile Othon Friesz, Dora Maar, Jean Cocteau, André Lhote and Jean Lambert-Rucki. An early rare self-portrait drawing from 1943 by Françoise Gilot is signed “Ariane,” the Greek legend with whom she had identified.

Beautiful paintings by artists working in the Pointillist style include a dazzling sunrise coastal scene by Yvonne Canu, a charming sketch of boat by Henry Edmond Cross, and still lifes by Jean Selmersheim-Desgrange and Victor Léon Charreton.

Works from the Barbizon School offers paintings by Jules Dupré and Charles Emile Jacque.

Works by American Impressionists Thomas Buford Meteyard, Robert William Vonnoh, Francis Luis Mora, Reynolds Beal, Edmund William Greacen and Paulette Van Roekens are among many colorful landscapes offered throughout the sale.

Early Modernism is represented by three cubist inspired works by muralist James Henry Daugherty and an lively impression of Coney Island by Abraham Walkowitz, as well as bronzes by Sir Jacob Epstein, William Zorach and Chaim Gross.

Artists affiliated with Ashcan and New York and American Realism include Guy Pene du Bois, George Luks, Arthur B. Davies and John Koch.

Abstract Expressionism and Post War Art is represented here by such artists Ibrahim Hussein, William Austin Kienbusch, Byron Browne, Alvin Carl Hollingsworth, Robert DeNiro, Snr., Milton Avery, Marcel Mouly, Janice Biala, William Barnett and Lester Johnson.

The public is invited to the exhibition on view March 10 through 12. Doyle is located at 175 East 87th Street in Manhattan.
