LAMBERTVILLE, NJ.- On Saturday, May 19th and Sunday, May 20th the Rago Arts and Auction Center will hold its auctions of Early 20th Century and Modern Design.

Early 20th C. Design: Saturday, May 19 at 10:00AM, 276 lots
Featuring ceramics by Rookwood, Fulper, Grueby, Marblehead, John Bennett, early Van Briggle, Newcomb College, Teco, and North Dakota School of Mines. European pottery by Martin Brothers, Pierre-Adrien Dalpayrat, Zsolnay, Moorcroft, and Clement Massier. Furniture by Gustav Stickley, Roycroft, L. & J.G. Stickley, Limbert, and Rose Valley. An important and rare table and ten chairs by Arthur Eddy and Frederick Roehrig from the Eddy House. Superb lighting by Lillian Palmer, Elizabeth Burton, Tiffany Studios, Dirk Van Erp, Gustav Stickley, Unique, and Handel. Art glass by Tiffany Studios, Gallé, Daum, Loetz, Lalique, Quezal, and Burgun Schverer. The Daphne Farago Collection of Decorative Arts: Sunday, May 20 at 10AM, 90 lots
Rago’s is honored to offer part of the collection of lifelong benefactor and supporter of Studio Craft, Daphne Farago (1924 – 2017), proceeds to benefit the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Featuring exceptional contemporary glass by Libenský & Brychtová, Dale Chihuly, Lino Tagliapietra, Richard Marquis, Dan Dailey, and Toots Zynsky; Ceramics by Alev Ebüzziya Siesbye, Ron Nagle, Jun Kaneko, Robert Arneson, and Betty Woodman; Furniture by Wendell Castle, Sam Maloof, and Garry Knox Bennett; Spectacular Japanese baskets; and textile, fiber, and bead art by Judy Mulford, Michael Olszewski, and more.

The collection was built around a love of fine crafts, from jewelry to Japanese baskets, fiber, glass, ceramics and furniture. The sale will offer some ninety lots of works from a variety of makers including Sam Maloof, Wendell Castle, Lino Tagliapietra, Dan Dailey, Alev Sisbye and Robert Arneson, plus sophisticated baskets by Tanabe Chikuunsai III, Tanioka Shigeo, Hayakawa Shokosai V and Fujinuma Noboru, the last two honored with the title of Living National Treasure of Japan."

Modern Design: Sunday, May 20 at 11:30AM, 317 lots
The session begins with forty-six lots of contemporary glass and design from the collection of Ms. Debra Lee, Chairman and CEO of BET Networks, including works by Lino Tagliapietra, Dale Chihuly, Therman Statom, Joel Philip Myers, Philip Baldwin & Monica Guggisberg, Vladimira Klumpar & Michael Pavlik, and unique collaborative sculptures by Albert Paley with Martin Blank and John Lewis. Modern Design continues with a T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings Mesa table and over forty lots of George Nakashima furniture, including fresh-to-the-market private collections and spectacular pieces from Folly Cottage. Eleven lots of Harry Bertoia metalwork, including an exceptional large Bush, Willow, and Sonambient.
