LONDON.- This May, Sotheby’s will partner with esteemed Savile Row tailor Huntsman & Sons to stage its first online-only luxury lifestyle sale. Featuring an array of bespoke pieces from the private collection of Huntsman owner and financier, Pierre Lagrange, alongside commissioned new works that exemplify the Huntsman lifestyle, this collection reflects Lagrange’s expert knowledge and appreciation of exquisite objects.

The sale will offer a view into the life and passions of Pierre Lagrange as a custodian to Huntsman’s unique heritage, which has attracted discerning patrons throughout the ages. Curated to correlate with the different rooms in his home, the collection reflects Lagrange’s enthusiasm for one-off pieces, and his talent for envisioning and commissioning truly extraordinary creations.

Amassed over several years and many continents, each item has been hand-picked from some of the world’s leading companies and artisans, and reflects the ultimate Huntsman lifestyle, from a timeless Cartier watch to cashmerelined cowboy boots, a tweed billiards table to a customised onesie in the Huntsman Burning Man print.

Looking ahead to the auction, Lagrange comments, “ From the clubroom and dressing room, to the garage and grounds, a Huntsman lifestyle can extend to each element of the home. I invite you to discover them in our exclusive online sale, where we celebrate the pieces that form the overall experience of the brand.”

Harry Dalmeny, Sotheby’s UK Chairman, says, “ This sale will see the legacies of two historic Mayfair institutions collide in what will be an exceptional opportunity to acquire bespoke creations from the most exclusive tailor on Savile Row. Appearing in an unprecedented online lifestyle auction, each lot will embody the integrity, craftsmanship and contemporary elegance which has come to define Huntsman, and the style and sophistication sought by our clients. Our online-only sales have soared in popularity over the past year and we’re tremendously excited to inaugurate our first online lifestyle sale with such an esteemed partner.”

This will not be the first time that Sotheby’s and Huntsman have joined forces to present the exceptional, having previously teamed up to release ‘Treasures from Chatsworth’. The original 13-part video series exposed the diverse art collection at Chatsworth House and this month won the Webby Awards for a branded series.

The Ultimate Huntsman Lifestyle…
Highlights of the sale include the iconic orange smoking jacket as worn by Kingsman Eggsy, bespoke by Campbell Carey who cut the original prototype, and a pair of 18 carat gold Givenchy cufflinks designed by James de Givenchy and inspired by his uncle Hubert de Givenchy, who frequently graced Huntsman’s fitting rooms. Claret Adidas Stan Smith trainers, watches customised by Huntsman and Sea2See sunglasses embody the full Huntsman aesthetic and will be on offer to complete the look.

For an entertaining game night at home, one can enjoy bespoke pieces ranging from a tweed dart board and playful Cartier silver backgammon dice to Marc Newson’s iconic Hourglass - perfect tools for the discerning games enthusiast. For the dining room, a bottle of 1870 Chateau Lafite Magnum from Mr. Lagrange’s personal cellar is best enjoyed seated comfortably on an enviable one-off set of six dining chairs by AD Top 100 Designer Billy Cotton, elegantly upholstered in Huntsman house tweed. A wool and silk rug by Luke Irwin, inspired by Huntsman’s signature house tweed, completes the ultimate homage to the versatile signature textile.

Created in tribute to one of Mr. Lagrange’s first personal bespoke commissions, a custom Harley Davidson Crossbone 1600cc features tweed saddle bags inspired by Huntsman’s tailoring craft, and will be offered alongside a bespoke Huntsman electric bike crafted by Vintage Electric, a company out of California, as well as a fully customisable Huntsman bicycle by London’s Donhou Bicycles.

For those who enjoy the great outdoors, a bespoke mahogany ‘Bootlegger’ paddle board with hand painted tweed detailing by Minneapolis-based Fitzke boards is truly an object to admire. Producing only six boards a year, Fitzke paddleboards are born of tradition and raised by originality, a labour of love and elbow grease so rarely found in modern craftsmanship. A fully customised set of bespoke tweed skis by NIX offer timeless slope style, while fellow golf enthusiasts will appreciate the putters, including one designed by Bradley with the unique Gregory Peck tweed.

Venturing beyond the tangible, Mr. Lagrange has also curated several ‘bespoke experiences’ including a unique opportunity to experience the Huntsman Kingsman Room Sleepover Experience in their shop. Two cashmere sleeping bags with a monogrammed zipper in your initial from CHAOS, the luxury accessories brand co-founded by Charlotte Stockdale and Katie Lyall, will make you feel right at home, and when you wake up, you will be treated to a breakfast at Isabel, Mayfair.

The Huntsman x Sotheby’s auction will run exclusively online from Tuesday 22nd May to Friday 1st June, 2018. All lots will be offered without buyer’s premium, and will be on exhibition in the Wemyss Gallery at Sotheby’s New Bond Street.
