HONG KONG.- Pace Gallery announced that Whitney Ferrare will join the gallery as a Senior Director beginning in September 2018. Based in Hong Kong, Ferrare will support primary and secondary market activity for Paces artists and estates, as well as contribute to the gallerys exhibition and art fair programming across the Asia Pacific region. Ferrare will spearhead Paces inaugural participation in Sydney Contemporary, Australias Premier International Art Fair on view September 13 16, 2018.
When we opened our second gallery in Hong Kong this past March, it was clear that it wasnt the culmination of Paces work in Asia; but rather, the commencement of a new level of engagement across the region; and Whitney will play a pivotal role in this next phase, said Marc Glimcher, Pace Gallery President and CEO. Through her career in auction houses and galleries and her broad international experience, she has built meaningful and dynamic connections with artists, collectors, and institutions around the world. Were looking forward to welcoming Whitney at Pace and working with her to strengthen and expand our relationships across the Asia Pacific region.
Most recently, Ferrare served in sales at Gagosian Gallery in Hong Kong, shaping collections informed by her distinct cross-cultural perspective and engaging the regions institutional leaders with the gallerys artists and estates. As a dealer, she draws upon a long-held passion for art and balances a keen support for local and regional artists with a deep knowledge of the works of twentieth-century masters and leaders of the contemporary avant-garde. Prior to joining Gagosian, Ferrare began her career at Christies in Hong Kong, working in the Asian Contemporary and 20th Century Art Department.
Born in Canada and raised in Hong Kong, Ferrare studied art history at McGill University in Montreal. While professionally focused on the Asia Pacific region, she also spends significant time in Italy where for the last six years, shes contributed to the organization of non-profit exhibitions presented during the Venice Biennale, including the 2017 show Fernando Zobel. Contrapuntos, featuring the work of the late Filipino-Spanish artist Fernando Zobel.
"Arne and Marc are both visionary leaders, who have built a gallery that is truly a community of artists and dealers, united in a passion for art, said Ferrare. Pace is distinct for its long-held and dedicated engagement with the artists and collectors across Asia having partnered with legendary dealer Leng Lin to be the first major western gallery to open a space in Asia, launching Pace in Beijing in 2008. It feels particularly momentous to join Pace as the gallery celebrates its 10th anniversary in Asia, now with galleries in Hong Kong and Seoul, as well as Beijing. I look forward to working with the team across Asia and internationally to continue to advance the gallerys program in the region."
