Naima Azough appointed to the Rijksmuseum Supervisory Board
Naima Azough is an independent adviser for social and governmental organisations.

AMSTERDAM.- Naima Azough (b. 1972 in Asdif, Morocco) was named as the newest member of the Rijksmuseum supervisory board on 4 July 2018.

Naima Azough is an independent adviser for social and governmental organisations who has been deeply engaged with social topics throughout her career; she headed two national commissions on human trafficking and prostitution grooming, and directed the care of victim minors. In her role as special rapporteur, Naima Azough conducted research into the prevention of extremism and the advancement of social cohesion. She was a member of the Dutch Parliament for seven years.

Naima Azough: The Rijksmuseum connects people, art and history and allows us to pose questions about the past, the present and beauty. I am eager to contribute to this national resource of wonderment and connection.

Alex Wynaendts, Chairman of the Rijksmuseum Supervisory Board: Naima Azough brings to the board her extensive experience on a broad spectrum of societal matters. These concerns are central to the work of the supervisory board of this museum, which serves and belongs to everyone in society, and wants to play an active role in that society.

Taco Dibbits, Director of the Rijksmuseum: I am delighted with the appointment of Naima Azough, and I am convinced that she will make a valuable contribution to the Rijksmuseum.

The other members of the Rijksmuseum Supervisory Board are Alex Wynaendts (Chair; CEO, Aegon), Marjan Oudeman (Vice-Chair), Hans Goedkoop (historian and presenter of a historical television series), Heleen Kersten (partner at Stibbe law firm), Chris Vogelzang (independent consultant) and Sir John Leighton (Director-General, National Galleries of Scotland).
