MT. CRAWFORD, VA.- The Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates Summer Americana & Variety Auction contains a true diversity of material and will include everything from rare Civil War material and vintage concert posters to country furniture and silver coins. The large auction will take place over two days, Friday, August 24, 2018 and Saturday, August 25, 2018 with absentee, phone, internet, and in-house bidding available.

Friday’s session, beginning at 9:30 am, should start the weekend off with a bang and features the 50-plus year collection of the late Joan M. Wentz, Germansville, PA, highlighted by American folk and decorative art, including weathervanes, portraits, powder horns, and rare toleware; Holiday decorations, including Christmas and Easter articles, ornaments, candy containers, and toys; lighting, including over 130 miniature lamps; glass, including examples by Daum Nancy, Galle, and Stueben, as well as barber bottles, early blown and pressed forms, and EAPG; early ceramics, including children’s articles, spatterware, Gaudy Dutch, Delft, transferware, majolica, and an excellent group of rare Rabbitware; stoneware and earthenware; textiles, including samplers, quilts, sewing tools, and accessories; plus more.

Saturday’s session, beginning at 9:30 am, should prove to be equally exciting and features property from the collection of Ellen B. O’Brien, Sarasota, FL; the Al Warr Collection, Easton, PA; the collection of the late William Becker, Bridgewater, VA; the estate of Mrs. Lee Cochran, Staunton, VA; the collection of Maxine and the late Grymes Heneberger, Harrisonburg, VA; the private collection of Lucy and Col. Richard Collie (Ret.), Fairfax Station, VA; as well as property deaccessioned by Washington & Lee University, Lexington, VA to benefit the Collections Fund; and property deaccessioned from the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center, Pennsburg, PA, proceeds to benefit the Acquisitions Fund. The day’s various offerings consist of our usual wide selection of country furniture and accessories, folk art, toys, clocks, vintage and antique posters, country store and advertising, Civil War and other historical material, ceramics and glass, Native American material, comic books, a collection of Mettlach steins, coins and currency, Victorian furniture and lighting, music boxes, plus more.

The complete catalogue for both days will be posted by August 15th on the firm’s website, and will be available for absentee and live bidding through the new Jeffrey S. Evans LIVE platform, as well as Live Auctioneers and Invaluable. All lots are on public preview at the firm’s gallery located at 2177 Green Valley Ln., Mt. Crawford, VA on August 22-23 from 10 am to 6 pm daily, and on August 24-25 from 8 am until the last lot is sold on each day.
