MIAMI, FLA.- Chile begins its participation in Miami Art Week 2018 with great success reporting high-profile sales on day 1.

Factoría Santa Rosa sold a piece by 27-year-old Fernanda López to CIFO (Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation). Over the years, CIFO has earned the respect of the international art world, and is recognized for its rich history in promoting Latin American contemporary art. As a platform for emerging, mid-career, and established Latin American artists through all its programs, CIFO has granted more than $1.5 Million to over 135 artists from Latin America and has exhibited their work since 2002. Factoria Santa Rosa is one of the galleries showcasing at PINTA Miami and the piece, titled Modo de Calzar is now part of the CIFO Collection.

Other sales include works from Monica Bengoa and Marian Najmanovich from the Aninat Isabel gallery at Untitled, a piece by Nicolas Radic from the AMS gallery at Art Miami, and a piece by Benjamin Ossa from the ArteEspacio gallery at PINTA Miami, among others.

Young curator, Matias Allende, curated the exhibit at the Chilean pavilion at PINTA Miami. From a demented geography to the telluric is a study of Pablo Neruda and Gabriela Mistral’s prose and the intrinsic relationship of the subjects with the landscape, an idea which in turn would support an essentialist thesis of Latin-American.

These efforts were all financed by Chile’s network for fine arts: SISMICA. From December 5 through the 9, Miami will welcome 9 Chilean galleries to three of its main fairs: Aninat Isabel and Die Ecke to Untitled, AMS to Art Miami, and Artespacio, Factoría Santa Rosa, La Sala, Espora, Isabel Croxatto, Aninat Isabel, and NAC to PINTA Miami. This is SISMICA’s first intervention in the continent’s most important event for visual arts.

SISMICA is the joint effort of ProChile (Ministry of Foreign Relations’ entity dedicated to promoting Chile’s exports), and the AGAC (Association of Chilean Contemporary Art Galleries). It was created as ProChile’s newest brand, with the goal of promoting and positioning Chilean art in the international art scene. Acting as a platform, it strengthens Chilean’s fine arts presence around the globe.
