BOSTON, MASS.- A rare Steve Jobs signed Macworld magazine sold for $47,775 according to Boston-based RR Auction.

The original issue of Macworld #1 from February 1984, signed and inscribed on the front cover in black ink, "to Matt, steven jobs” will be auctioned by Boston-based RR Auction.

The classic cover depicts Jobs as Apple Computer's chairman of the board, posing with a trio of Macintosh computers.

Introduced in February 1984, Macworld magazine became the most popular Macintosh-focused magazine in North America; the premier issue is scarce and desirable in its own right.

Steve Jobs signed this copy at the grand opening of the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue in New York on May 19, 2006. Accompanied by a photo of Jobs signing this exact magazine, and a video of him signing can be seen online.

Jobs's autograph is notoriously rare for a modern public figure—in the video, he at first jokingly refuses to sign for a man in a wheelchair, before acquiescing to the request and asking his name ("Matt" is heard off camera). Jobs then reluctantly signs the magazine, adding the a quick inscription to "Matt."

It’s an exceptional piece with ironclad photographic provenance,” said Bobby Livingston, Executive VP at RR Auction.

Additional highlights from the sale include: a Steve Jobs original Apple Computer business card as chairman of the board that sold for $6,259, and an Apple 'Think Different' poster set that sold for $2,764.

The Science and Technology Auction from RR Auction began December 6 and concluded December 13.
