SEOUL.- Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac announced that Kyu Jin Hwang joins the gallery as Associate Director, Asia. She will work closely with Nick Buckley-Wood, the gallery’s Director for Asia, across the continent and in particular in Korea. Kyu joins our growing Asia team at a time when the gallery is developing expertise and relationships in the region's key arts hubs. Based at the London gallery, she will commence by joining the team on our booth at the inaugural Taipei Dangdai art fair in Taiwan.

Kyu brings significant expertise and experience to her role and will be working with collectors and institutions throughout Asia, whilst also working with and on behalf of Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac’s artists, including Lee Bul in this landmark year for the Korean artist. Following Bul’s critically acclaimed solo show last year at the Hayward Gallery, London, her exhibition is currently on view at Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin.

Prior to joining the gallery, most recently Kyu managed a renowned private collection based in Europe, with a particular focus on acquisitions of modern and contemporary art. With a curatorial background that includes a specialisation in the 1960s generation of Korean artists, she previously worked at Gallery HYUNDAI in Seoul with their celebrated roster of artists, developing the exhibition and artist programmes and also working with institutions and collectors internationally.

“I am absolutely delighted to join Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac whose team I had the pleasure of working with in my previous roles, having been drawn to the outstanding artists represented by the gallery. It is now an honour to work alongside the gallery’s team on behalf of these artists with collectors and institutions in Asia.”
