LOS ANGELES, CA.- Bonhams announces its collaboration with ‘The Most Famous Artist’ aka Matty Mo in celebration of the upcoming auction of The L.D. “Brink” Brinkman Collection on February 8. Matty has painted two vibrant murals of the beautiful and graphic patterns of Bohlin saddles. They are currently on display on the outside walls of Bonhams Los Angeles, in concurrence with the public exhibition of The L.D. “Brink” Brinkman Collection from February 2- 15.

Matty Mo, The Most Famous Artist, added: “It is an honor to collaborate with Bonhams for the Brinkman sale. We’ve created two color-forward selfie-friendly murals inspired by works from the Brinkman collection on Sunset Boulevard that are sure to turn heads.”

The overall design is inspired by the history, geography and craftsmanship of an Edward H. Bohlin parade saddle and the colorways of two leading highlights in the sale: Coffee Coolers Meet the Hostiles by Howard Terpning (estimate: $600,000-800,000) and Taos Twins by Ernest Martin Hennings (estimate: $500,000-$700,000). Bohlin is best-remembered today for his exquisitely-crafted leather-tooled and silver-embellished Western gear, founded in Hollywood, California in 1926. His work was regarded as exceptional in his day and favored by Western movie stars such as John Wayne and Roy Rogers. The colorway of each mural corresponds to the palettes of Coffee Coolers and Taos Twins, respectively. The leather-tooled floral motif unifies both warm and cool colorways, providing an additional context for interpretation of both works.

Matty Mo is a Los Angeles-based contemporary artist and marketing entrepreneur best known for creating the conceptual art group, ‘The Most Famous Artist.’ Through this platform, Matty Mo makes social media-themed installations, public stunts, and exhibitions to challenge viewers to examine how technology and the Internet impact society.

Leslie Wright, Bonhams US Deputy Chairman, commented: “We are so excited to collaborate with Matty Mo to celebrate The Brinkman Collection who offers a fresh and exciting perspective of Western art. We invite everyone in the area to visit our public exhibition and admire the creative vignettes Matty has painted on our walls.”

On February 8, Bonhams will offer The L.D. “Brink” Brinkman Collection, one of the most significant private collections of Western American art to come to market in recent years. The collection comprises approximately 350 works of art, which includes works by artists such as Ernest Martin Hennings, Howard Terpning, and Joe Beeler in media ranging from oils to bronze. A distinguished grouping of 170 lots will be included in the live auction and will be offered in the Los Angeles saleroom on Friday, February 8. An additional online-only auction, which opens for bidding worldwide on February 8, will feature approximately 180 additional lots from the collection.
