Discover Multicultural Gems Of London

LONDON, ENGLAND.- The Nubian Jak Blue Plaque Treasure Trail is being launched on Friday 8th October on Railton Road, Brixton and runs until 22nd October.   Nubian Jak and English Heritage will launch the trail after the unveiling of the latest Blue Plaque, for writer, CLR James.

The trail will take treasure hunters across central London, following a series of clues that will lead them to discover the plaques at the former homes of philosophers, premiers, poets and performers.  Each Blue Plaque celebrates the life of and significant contribution made by each individual who lived in Britain.

Businesses, colleges, schools, community groups, families and individuals, are all invited to discover the many treasures of hidden London. When Treasure Trail forms are completed and correct, they will automatically be entered into a prize draw, that will take place on October 25th. Ten winners will be awarded their prizes at a celebrity packed evening on 29th October at Ocean Theatre, Hackney.  The winners will be VIP guests at the Who Knows Jak? Live, game show, when celebrities will battle it out for charity.

Nubian Jak, creator of the treasure trail said: “It’s great to have the support of English Heritage for my treasure trail idea that totally unites the ethnic diversity of London.  It’s also a fantastic chance to discover the personalities of the past, who made such a wonderful contribution to the capital, and the whole country.”

Tracy Borman, English Heritage’s Director of Education and Outreach said: “English Heritage is delighted to be involved in a like this project.  The Nubian Jak Blue Plaques Trail is a great way of celebrating our blue plaques scheme and of helping people to explore some of London’s fascinating past.”

The Nubian Jak Blue Plaque Treasure Trail is open to all age groups and all communities.
