BRUSSELS.- The 2nd edition of COLLECTIBLE concluded on Sunday 17 March 2019 boasting strong sales and an attendance of 15,000 visitors - a substantial increase to last year’s numbers. Running from 14 – 17 March at the Vanderborght building in Brussels, COLLECTIBLE is the only fair to solely focus on contemporary, 21st century collectible design. 92 exhibitors from 15 countries comprising design and art galleries, individual designers, design studios, and design graduates as well as design institutions and organisations took part in the fair and a week of special events and celebrations across Brussels and beyond.

Many exhibitors chose COLLECTIBLE to unveil new works ranging from full collections of furniture to unique pieces and experimental and innovative designs. Participants expressed their excitement at the high-profile collectors, buyers, curators, influential design professionals and patrons that visited the fair, reporting significant sales, fruitful encounters and networking opportunities.

Noted highlights from this year included the participation of leading museums Design Museum Gent, ADAM - Brussels Design Museum, CID au Grand-Hornu and the Hortamuseum. dotsandplanes, an advisory collecting service for those wishing to make their first foray into contemporary design, attracted much interest from visitors and will return for the third edition. A key trend emerging out of the fair was the use of sustainable materials in many works on display as well as in the specially made fair scenography by Studio Verter and EcoBirdy’s designs featured in the children’s play area.

Clélie Debehault and Liv Vaisberg, Co-Founders and Organisers, said: ‘COLLECTIBLE was very well received in its inaugural year and it was essential for us to keep up with high expectations. The unanimous and enthusiastic reaction of visitors and exhibitors alike shows that the second edition has outperformed on all fronts. We are already looking ahead to the third edition which will continue to build on our success of pushing creative boundaries and placing 21st century contemporary design at the heart of the international art and design scene.’

Commenting about their delight with this year’s edition, exhibitors said: ‘COLLECTIBLE was a great match for our vision about contemporary design and we are very much looking forward to coming back next year.’ - Benoit Wolfrom, Functional Art Berlin

‘The second edition of COLLECTIBLE was a success. We trust many other international galleries will join us to give the many interested visitors the best in 2020. - Amaryllis Jacobs, MANIERA

‘I am satisfied with this first experience at COLLECTIBLE, which has an interesting and diverse audience of fine appreciators of design.’ - Nathalie Assi, SEE•DS

‘What an amazing audience at this second edition of COLLECTIBLE! My thanks to the organisers and the wonderful public for their enthusiasm.’ - Veerle Wenes, valerie_traan Gallery

The next edition of COLLECTIBLE will return to Brussels from 12 - 15 March 2020.
