BRUSSELS.- The 2nd edition of
COLLECTIBLE concluded on Sunday 17 March 2019 boasting strong sales and an attendance of 15,000 visitors - a substantial increase to last years numbers. Running from 14 17 March at the Vanderborght building in Brussels, COLLECTIBLE is the only fair to solely focus on contemporary, 21st century collectible design. 92 exhibitors from 15 countries comprising design and art galleries, individual designers, design studios, and design graduates as well as design institutions and organisations took part in the fair and a week of special events and celebrations across Brussels and beyond.
Many exhibitors chose COLLECTIBLE to unveil new works ranging from full collections of furniture to unique pieces and experimental and innovative designs. Participants expressed their excitement at the high-profile collectors, buyers, curators, influential design professionals and patrons that visited the fair, reporting significant sales, fruitful encounters and networking opportunities.
Noted highlights from this year included the participation of leading museums Design Museum Gent, ADAM - Brussels Design Museum, CID au Grand-Hornu and the Hortamuseum. dotsandplanes, an advisory collecting service for those wishing to make their first foray into contemporary design, attracted much interest from visitors and will return for the third edition. A key trend emerging out of the fair was the use of sustainable materials in many works on display as well as in the specially made fair scenography by Studio Verter and EcoBirdys designs featured in the childrens play area.
