NEW YORK, NY.- Bidding is now open for over 500 works of Asian art at the Lark Mason Associates Asian sale, at iGavelAuctions.com through April 16. This diverse sale includes a selection of Indian sculpture, Korean porcelain, Japanese works of art, and Chinese art from the Shang Dynasty to the Republic Period.

The highlights include an important Chinese Zitan Cabinet with Dragon Carved Panels, dating to the 18th century with later additions. Estimated at $80,000-120,000, the cabinet incorporates side panels and drawers depicting the four seasons, with a magnificent pair of dragon doors. The cabinet was purchased by Eliza Scidmore–the sister of the American Consul to Shanghai, in Beijing in 1901–who lent the doors to The Smithsonian, as well as a Chinese Celadon Jade Ruyi Scepter, incised with a poem written by the Qianlong Emperor (1736-1795), estimated at $50,000-80,000. Also on offer are a Pair of Famille Rose Gilt and Enamel Decorated Covered Jars, Qianlong Mark, Republic Period, at $40,000/60,000 and a pair of 19th century Chinese Jade and Cloisonné Mounted Zitan and Hardwood scroll form hardwood panels, at $40,000/60,000

The selection of Buddhistic works of art includes an impressive life-sized sculpture of a Chinese Carved Wood Figure of Avalokiteshvara, from the Yuan or early Ming dynasties, which was formerly in the Ian Woodner Collection, now consigned by a European collector, estimated at $150,000–250,000.

A Pair of Chinese Jade and Cloisonné mounted Zitan and Hardwood Scroll Form Panels, consigned by an American doctor, who formed his collection with purchases from New York and San Francisco galleries during the 1960s, are estimated at $40,000-60,000.
