China Guardian Hong Kong Spring Auctions 2019 conclude with 7 sales bringing US$ 48M

HONG KONG.- China Guardian Hong Kong Spring Auctions 2019 concluded on 31 March with 7 sales in 4 categories, namely Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, Asian 20th Century and Contemporary Art, Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art, as well as Jewellery, Watches and Luxury Goods, bringing a total of HK$ 372 million / US$ 48 million.

Ms. Hu Yanyan, President of China Guardian (HK) Auctions Co., Ltd, says, “The spring auction season in Hong Kong this year opened with 7 sales at China Guardian (Hong Kong) bringing a total of HK$ 372 million / US$ 48 million.

“Our flagship sales of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy were led by Ming dynasty painter Lan Ying’s album leaves Landscapes, which fetched HK$ 29.8 million / US$3.8 million. Asian 20th Century and Contemporary Art continued to be strong, bringing an impressive total well over HK$ 100 million / US$ 13 million, with Zao Wou-Ki’s 01.03.99, top lot of the season, achieving HK$ 37.71 million / US$ 4.8 million. The Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art sales offered a great variety of artefacts, among them a teadust-glazed teapot from the Yongzheng period that soared well above estimates to HK$ 5.43 million / US$ 696,000. The Important Jewels and Jadeite sale was topped by a 49.06-carat natural Burmese sapphire ring that sold for HK$ 16.25 million / US$ 2 million, as well as a 27.88-carat fancy intense yellow VS1 diamond ring that brought HK$ 10.27 million / US$ 1.3 million.
