Julien's Auctions announces Music Icons: Property From The Collection of Slash and Perla Hudson
An MTV Music Video Award Moonman trophy, presented in 1987-1988 to Slash for Best New Artist in a Video for Guns N' Roses "Welcome to the Jungle." Estimate: 12,000.00-15,000.00.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA.- Five years since the official separation of one of rock and roll’s most famous couples, Julien’s Auctions has announced Property From The Collection of Slash and Perla Hudson as part of their two day Music Icons auction taking place on Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18, 2019 with historical items by other music legends (to be announced) live in New York at the Hard Rock Cafe and online at juliensauctions.com.

The world record breaking auction house that has specialized in some of the most headline making rock and roll artist auctions in the past fifteen years will present for the first time in Julien’s history, this exclusive celebrity “uncoupling auction” featuring some of the most personal and unique items from the magnificent Beverly Hills estate that Perla Hudson and legendary Guns N’Roses guitarist Slash shared during their fourteen year marriage as well as memorabilia and ephemera related to Slash’s career, style and showmanship as one of the most revered and powerful musicians ever to be inducted into the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Youth Emerging Stronger (YES) (formerly LAYN) whose programs provide safety, stability and housing to runaway, homeless and foster youth ages 11-24.

Perla Hudson (born Ferrer) first met lead guitarist Slash in 1992, backstage at a Guns N' Roses concert in Las Vegas at the height of the L.A. band’s domination and superstardom as rock’s “most dangerous band in the world.” In the band’s heyday from the late ‘80s-‘90s, “GNR” electrified concert arenas around the world with their high energy performances and tours and recording of what is considered one of rock and roll’s greatest albums “Appetite for Destruction” (Geffen Records, 1987) the best selling debut album of all time in the U.S. having sold over 30 million records worldwide, while creating controversy with the band’s rowdy and volatile behavior on and off the stage.

Slash’s guitar riffs and solos in the band’s most classic hit songs including “Sweet Child o’Mine,” “Welcome to the Jungle” and “Paradise City” shaped the sound and fury of GNR and his later work with bands such as Velvet Revolver garnered Slash critical acclaim, ranking on Time and Rolling Stone’s top lists as one of the greatest electric guitarists of all time among many other honors. Perla’s and Slash’s life as one of the most talked about modern day rock couples thrust them further into the spotlight with their marriage in 2001 in Hawaii and the birth of their two sons, London Emilio and Cash Anthony, born in 2002 and 2004 in Los Angeles. In 2007, their lives as a rock and roll family off stage and at home were depicted in the E! True Hollywood Story: Rock Star Wives. During their 14-year marriage Perla managed her husband’s career and his companies. They filed for divorce in December 2014.

Highlights of the auction include wardrobe items of Slash’s signature look such as his black custom made Baron Hats Gran Marca Cerva bowler hat and signed top hat, his black leather motorcycle jacket with a printed image of Jimi Hendrix on the reverse, custom made Erin Lareau black leather vest with ruffles, leather belts with labels and illustrations ranging from "Bill Graham Presents" to various sex themes and a pair of Red Diamond leather and snakeskin cowboy boots printed with Slash's name and skull and crossbones, an MTV Music Video Award Moonman trophy, presented in 1987-1988 to Slash for Best New Artist in a Video for Guns N' Roses "Welcome to the Jungle" (estimate: $12,000-$15,000); a limited edition (1/3) bronze and leather upholstered "Tally Ho" chair or spanking bench, designed by Mark Brazier-Jones and purchased at the Kiki De Montparnasse boutique (estimate: $12,000-$15,000); a Hollywood Walk of Fame Plaque presented to Slash on July 10, 2012 by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce; pinball machines from Slash’s collection and game tables including his Simpson's Pinball Party 2006 pinball machine by Stern Pinball Inc., a Jersey Jack {Wizard of Oz} limited edition pinball machine number 991/1000 (estimate: $2,000-$4,000) gifted by Slash to Perla, and an oval mahogany double pedestal games table with 12 ultra suede barrel-back chairs (estimate: $4,000-$6,000); their wedding items including Perla’s beaded and sequin top hat wedding veil with crystals on the hat and on the veil (estimate: $400-$600) and a sculpted plastic wedding cake topper custom fitted with top hat, veil, and hair to represent the couple (estimate: $200-$400); a pair of ornate Baroque style gilt hall chairs; a painted resin and fiberglass lady pirate statue and a wall sculpture of a swordfish from Slash and Perla’s dining room; a Marshall Classic Rock Roll of Honor Album of the Year award, presented to Slash in 2010 for the album "Slash” (estimate: $2,000-$4,000); a custom Slash ventriloquist dummy (estimate: $2,000-$2,500); a black Jim Dunlop DCR-IFC Wah pedal in box marked "Slash WAH Proto;" a Michael Aram aluminum and stainless steel skeleton chair; a black lacquer coffin shaped guitar case with a silver Slash logo emblem on the cover and red velour interior (estimate: $3,000-$5,000); a Stephen McSwain Wicked Witch of the West guitar, signed "For Perla, Merry Xmas & Happy Valentine's Day from your loving husband Slash" and stand (estimate: $4,000-$6,000), love letters written to one another by the couple, Slash’s platinum awards, T-shirts, boxing gloves, a road case and more.

“Perla and Slash were the ultimate rock and roll couple,” said Darren Julien, President/Chief Executive Officer of Julien’s Auctions. “The items in this collection not only personify the sensational love affair and life of this dramatic and glamorous couple but will add tremendous value and bragging rights to any serious rock fan’s collection of memorabilia owned by one of rock and roll’s greatest guitar gods, Slash.”
