SAN FRANCISCO, CA.- Turner Auctions + Appraisals will offer a Fine Mélange: Art, Decorative Arts & More on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at 10:30 am PDT. Featuring over 260 items, the sale presents a wide range of artworks, decorative arts and more, from the 17th to the 20th centuries. Highlights include a Chinese porcelain Xiangqi game, a 19th-century portrait of a gentleman, a carved gilt wood peacock, an etching of three horsemen by Edward Borein (1873-1945), and a 19th-century silver compact by Donadio.

Artworks include oils, watercolors, etchings, lithographs, ink on paper, pastels, prints and photographs of diverse eras and subject matter. Other items going up for bid include sculptures and figures of bronze, copper and porcelain; boxes and compacts of sterling, porcelain or agate; a selection of art glass; paperweights; miniatures and silhouettes; geodes; tableware and flatware, many of sterling silver; candlesticks; clocks and lamps; 17th/18th-century English documents; American fractional currency notes; duck decoys; decorative items from China and Japan; vintage fishing rods and reels; and 19th-century firearms. The auction also includes numerous groupings of letter openers, watch fobs, wooden pipes, fountain pens, and mechanical pencils.

Turner Auctions + Appraisals begins its online auction on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at 10:30 am PDT; sale items are available for preview and bidding now. The auction will be featured live on four platforms: LiveAuctioneers, Invaluable, Bidsquare and Turner Auctions + Appraisals’ free mobile app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Apps ("Turner Auctions"). All are easily accessed through ‘Upcoming Auctions’ at the company’s website.

Here are some highlights of the upcoming sale:

Lot 60: 19th-century portrait of a gentleman. Unsigned. Artwork: 36 x 28 inches. Frame: 45 1/2 x 37 1/2 inches. Good condition. Oil on canvas. Estimate: $2,000-3,000.

Lot 24: An original etching of three cowboys by western artist Edward Borein (1873 - 1945). 19 1/2 inches high x 15 1/2 wide (framed). Estimate: $700-900.

Lot 1: A large, finely carved early 19th century gilt wood peacock on stand, measuring 30 inches high x 18 1/2 wide x 9 1/2 deep. Estimate: $400-600.

Lot 13: A large amethyst geode mounted on a burl wood stand, with a reverse light measuring in total 13 1/2 inches high x 14 1/2 wide x 7 deep. Estimate: $80-120.

Lot 226: A blue and white Chinese porcelain Xiangqi game, measuring 3 inches high x 17 wide x 13 1/2 deep. Estimate $800-1,200.

Lot 98: A mid 19th-century Continental double-barreled derringer, finely carved and inscribed. Estimate: $200-400.

Lot 141: Late 19th/early 20th century bronze by Mathurin Moreau (1822 – 1912). A fine French bronze, titled "Diane au Bain, Salon des Beaux Arts." 20 inches high x 8 wide x 7 deep, with a wood stand measuring 4 inches high x 9 1/2 diameter. Estimate: $500-700.

Lot 153: A majestic 19th century oil on canvas panorama of Yosemite Valley and an Indian village by James Dwyer (1844 - 1934), titled "Indians in Yosemite Valley from Mariposa Trail, 1862." 27 1/2 inches high x 41 3/4 wide (framed). Estimate: $500-700.

Lot 29: A large, fine Frederick Hart acrylic sculpture, with two nudes in relief. Signed Hart/Fal 1992 - 61/400 CAI. Sculpture measures 17 inches high x 7 wide x 6 deep. Estimate: $600-800.

Lot 54: Two very good early 19th century watercolor miniature portraits in original frames with finely cast hooks measuring 6 inches high x 5 1/4 wide. Estimate: $200-400.

Lot 217: A large and impressive Venetian glass sculpture signed Dino Rosin, depicting two lovers in an embrace. Paper labels on the base state Dino Rosin. Hand Made and Studio Rosin, Murano Venezia. Sculpture measures 25 inches high x 9 wide x 7 deep. Estimate: $200-300.
