NEW YORK, NY.- After a landmark year of exhibitions and sales, Gagosian Gallery, Inc., today announced three initiatives: the launch of Gagosian Art Advisory, to be led by Laura Paulson; the appointment of Andrew Fabricant to the recently created position of Chief Operating Officer of the gallery; and the establishment of a global Advisory Board to the gallery, comprised of senior directors who oversee strategy and business development, artist relationships and exhibitions, information and technology, and infrastructure. The board reports directly to the gallery’s founder Larry Gagosian.

“Innovation has been a driving force for Gagosian throughout its nearly forty-year history. The creation of Gagosian Art Advisory and this new management structure will enhance our client relationships, grow our global reach, and ultimately, maximize our platform to showcase the creative visions of our artists for years to come,” Mr. Gagosian said.

Gagosian Art Advisory is an independent group distinct and separate from Gagosian. It will provide a full range of collection management services for individuals, family offices, estates, and institutional clients to address the responsibilities and stewardship of a collection, including appraisals and conservation. The group also will advise experienced collectors on the management and growth of their collections, and guide new collectors as they begin to navigate the complexities of the global art market.

Mr. Gagosian is the first art dealer to initiate a stand-alone advisory business that will seek to accommodate increased demand from collectors for independent art advisory services.

Ms. Paulson, the former Global Chairman, 20th Century Art, at Christie’s, is an art world leader with vast experience successfully developing collections and advising collectors over the years.

“Throughout her career I have seen Laura provide individuals and families with invaluable expertise. She is especially well prepared to lead a cutting-edge independent advisory group that will strengthen these long and trusted relationships,” Mr. Gagosian said.

“Over the course of my career, I have had the privilege and honor of guiding and advising wonderful families and individuals as they build their collections and plan for their estates, and assisting them with their museum and institutional giving. I can think of no stronger partner than Gagosian,” Ms. Paulson said.

The new management structure, with Mr. Fabricant as COO and the Advisory Board of directors, also marks the next phase of Gagosian’s development as a high-performing international gallery known for the enormous wealth of expertise held by the company’s most valued senior personnel. With operations extending across sixteen locations in seven countries, it has become essential to formalize a system that capitalizes on opportunities and embraces the entrepreneurial spirit that has driven Gagosian’s success as a home for its artists and hub for its clients.

A highly respected and experienced art dealer, Mr. Fabricant began his professional career with Mr. Gagosian in 1983, remaining for fifteen years, and then rejoining the gallery in 2018.

“Andrew has earned a stellar reputation in the modern and contemporary art world for his connoisseurship and his comprehensive understanding of the international art market. Taking on this new management role reflects a natural progression of his already distinguished career,” Mr. Gagosian said.

In recognition of their significant contributions to the company, the following highly valued senior professionals have been appointed as founding members of the Advisory Board: Andy Avini, Serena Cattaneo Adorno, Virginia Coleman, Jean-Oliver Després, Chrissie Erpf, Andrew Fabricant, Pepi Marchetti Franchi, Mark Francis, Victoria Gelfand-Magalhaes, Melissa Lazarov, Ken Maxwell, Alison McDonald, Deborah McLeod, Frank Moore, Louise Neri, Gareth O’Loughlin, Sam Orlofsky, Stefan Ratibor, Nick Simunovic, Rebecca Sternthal, Kara Vander Weg, Millicent Wilner, and Ealan Wingate. Mr. Gagosian and Matthew S. Dontzin, the founding partner of the New York–based law firm Dontzin Nagy and Fleissig, will also serve on the Advisory Board.“

The individuals named to our board have helped build Gagosian with me. They have unparalleled expertise and skill sets built in the art world over many years. Their dedication and vision have in no small part contributed to the gallery’s success as the preeminent resource for artists and collectors worldwide. Their appointment to the Advisory Board recognizes their many contributions, but more importantly, better positions our company to manage its continued growth,” Mr. Gagosian said.
