Tokyo Chuo Auction Hong Kong Spring Sale 2019: Led by a rarest album of Schools and Sects of Buddhism
An album of Schools and Sects of Buddhism Complied by the Monk Ruda from Song Dynasty. A Song Dynasty block-printed edition, album of thirty-six leaves ink and colour on silk hanging scroll, 33 × 29.5 cm. Estimate: HKD 2,000,000 – 3,000,000.



HONG KONG.- Tokyo Chuo Auction Hong Kong announced the 2019 Hong Kong Spring Sale will be held from 24- 27 May at Hong Kong Four Seasons Hotel. The May sale offers more than 900 lots with a selection of the finest and outstanding artworks from Chinese works of Arts, Classical Chinese Paintings to Whisky & Moutai.

Led by an album of Schools and Sects of Buddhism Complied by the Monk Ruda from Song Dynasty, one of the earliest record about the Zen Sects Schools in Chinese history, the Spring sale will be showcasing 4 regular sales including Important Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art, Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy, Fine Chinese Modern Paintings and Calligraphy and Inchigo Inchie- The Art of Tea Ceremony, alongside 2 thematic sales, An Important Collection of Fine Chinese Paintings from Takahashi Kouhou and An Important Folding Fan Collection from Han Le Xuan, and 2 new sales of Arts in Life and Fine & Rare Whisky and Moutai.

Japanese collectors are very fond of Buddhist art and a large number of Buddhist paintings and related artworks have been assembled all over Japan through the centuries. The star Lot from the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy is an album of Schools and Sects of Buddhism Complied by the Monk Ruda from Song Dynasty (Est. HKD 2,000,000 – 3,000,000). This rare album is a Song Dynasty block-printed edition, with thirty-six leaves, and once was in the collection of Ishii Mitsuo, Obama Toshie and Osaka Aoyama University. Being one of the only two samples, another one is in the collection of Tokfujuki Temple in Kyoto, the current lot has never appeared in the auction market before.

• Yayoi Kusama(B.1929) Footprints In The Wind acrylic on canves 45.5×38cm. Executed in 1988 Signed, titled and dated on the reverse Yayoi Kusama's art work registration card No.2766 HKD: 800,000-1,200,000

• A gold teapot with jade lid knob by Kitamura Shizuka (Original Wooden Box) H:16cm; W: 715g HKD 500,000 - 600,000
