With a full saleroom, a packed phonebank, and bidding from across the globe, including 41 countries and across six continents, the auction demonstrates the international demand for collectable and rare handbags.
The top lot of the sale was an exceptional Hermès Matte White Himalaya Niloticus Crocodile Birkin 35 with Palladium Hardware, 2015 (estimate: £70,000-90,000), which sold for £162,500 / $205,888 / 181,675, alongside a superb Hermès Shiny Ficelle Porosus Crocodile Birkin 25 with 18k White Gold and Diamond Hardware, 2007, which achieved £118,750 / $150,456 / 132,763. A rare Hermès Shiny Vert Céladon Alligator Sellier Natura Kelly 25 With Gold Hardware, 1999 realised £63,750 / $80,771 / 71,273, marking the first time this model has been offered at auction.
The Hermès Naturel Barénia & Osier Picnic Kelly 35 With Palladium Hardware, 2011 sold for £52,500 / $66,518 / 58,695 and new limited-editions were presented including the Hermès Au Bout Du Monde Constance 24 With Palladium Hardware, 2018, which achieved £35,000 / $44,345 / 39,130.
Creations from Monsieur Lagerfelds tenure at the great fashion house attracted competitive bidding, with leading lots including a Chanel Fall/Winter Runway Black Lucite & Crystal Rocket Ship Evening Bag, 2017 (estimate: £6,000- 8,000), which achieved £21,250 / $26,924 / 23,758.
