Jürgen Tabor appointed new Curator Generali Foundation Collection
From 2017 to 2019 he was Curator of the Klocker Foundation, Innsbruck, as well as the Biennale Innsbruck International.



SALZBURG.- The Directorate of the Museum der Moderne Salzburg and the Board of the Generali Foundation announced that Jürgen Tabor has been appointed as the new Curator Generali Foundation Collection. He will begin his position at the Museum der Moderne Salzburg on July 1, 2019.

Thorsten Sadowsky, Director Museum der Moderne Salzburg, is pleased that with Jürgen Tabor the Generali Foundation Collection has gained a distinguished expert in international and Austrian contemporary art, whose expertise and ability will further strengthen and develop the cooperation with the Museum der Moderne Salzburg.

Jürgen Tabor studied art history, English and American studies and graduated in 2006 at the University of Innsbruck. From 2006 to 2010 he was Curator, from 2011 until mid-2017 Deputy Director as well as Interim Director beginning in 2016 of the Taxispalais Kunsthalle Tirol. From 2017 to 2019 he was Curator of the Klocker Foundation, Innsbruck, as well as the Biennale Innsbruck International. He was a partner of the European platform Curators' Network and lecturer at the Universities of Graz and Innsbruck. He has curated numerous exhibitions, et al Retrospectives by Gottfried Bechtold, Jana Sterbak and Martin Creed, and is the author of numerous texts on the art of the 20th and 21st century. On July 1, 2019 Jürgen Tabor will follow Antonia Lotz as Curator Generali Foundation Collection.

Since 2014, the internationally oriented Generali Foundation Collection has been entrusted to the Museum der Moderne Salzburg on permanent loan. It is characterized by its international orientation as well as a multiplicity and entanglement of artistic disciplines and media. The focus of the Generali Foundation Collection is on feminist, conceptual and institution-critical artistic positions from the 1960s and 1970s to the present day. With around 2,100 works by around 250 internationally renowned artists, it is one of the most important private collections in Austria in this field.
