NEW BRAUNFELS, TX.- The Lark Mason Associates sale of Lalique, Baccarat, and Other Fine Glass from an American Collector presented on the iGavel Auctions website recently closed with strong results, selling 134 out of 135 lots. The sale total of $592,883, including buyers premium, was led by a Baccarat Gilt Bronze Mounted Glass Camel, which realized $43,750. The top Lalique lot was a Green Perruches Vase, No. 876, which fetched $26,250 against an estimate of $4,000-8,000.
Says Lark Mason: Were pleased that we had such a successful sell-through for this auction with prices in some instances quadrupling many estimates. It proves that glass still holds water as collecting category.
With international bidders from Europe, Asia, South Africa and the United States furiously competing, many lots entered into extended bidding such as the Lalique Penthievre Vase, No. 1011, which was finally hammered down to a German bidder. After heated bidding from two collectors one from the United Kingdom and the from South Africa, a Borromee Vase, No. 1017, which sold for $19,500 against an estimate of $7,000-10,000 went home with the South African collector, as did a Red and White Stained Perruches Vase, estimated at $4,000-8,000 that realized $23,125.
The online sale commenced on April 23 and was extend through May 31st.
