NEW YORK, NY.- Blank Forms announces the appointment of Julia Trotta as Director of Advancement, a newly established position within the organization dedicated to outreach and development. Trotta will contribute to Blank Forms day-to-day operations, manage member relations, and oversee the financial strategy. She will work closely with the Artistic Director to ensure that the organizations long-term growth remains in line with Blank Forms mission. Trotta will join the organization on September 9, 2019.
Julia joins Blank Forms at a pivotal moment in the organization's development, said Lawrence Kumpf, Blank Forms Artistic Director. We are excited to continue our rigorous schedule of concerts, exhibitions, and publishing as well as undertaking major new initiatives that will ensure Blank Forms place within the cultural landscape of New York for years to come and Julia will be a central part of this growth. She brings a new perspective to the organization and we are thrilled to strategize for the future together.

Julia Trotta has previously worked as an independent curator, filmmaker, writer and advisor based in New York. She is currently in post-production on an episodic film titled Forget to be Afraid: A Portrait of Linda Nochlin, a film based on the life of work of the groundbreaking art historian, who was also Trottas grandmother. Since Nochlins death, Trotta has taken on the role of director of the estate, which encompasses all aspects of legacy-building including administration, collaboration with institutions, and the initiation of new publications and translations of Nochlins texts. Trotta has also curated a number of exhibitions both in the United States and abroad, many of which highlight women artists. She is also a writer and occasionally guest edits publications.
Blank Forms is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting emerging and underrepresented artists working in a range of time-based and interdisciplinary art practices, including experimental music, performance, dance, and sound art. We aim to establish new frameworks to preserve, nurture, and present to broad audiences the work of historic and emerging artists. Blank Forms provides artists with curatorial support, residencies, commissions, and publications to help document, disseminate, and advance their practices.
