NEW YORK, NY.- Christie's August sale of Interiors totaled $2,331,375 with 89% sold by lot and 92% sold by value. The sale attracted a high volume of online bidding through Christies LIVE, with 59% of all lots won or directly underbid by clients participating online. The sale saw global participation with registered bidders from 43 countries.
The top lots of the sale were André Massons Histoire de Thésée, which realized $125,000 against a high estimate of $7,000 and a Victorian silver tête-a-tête service mark of Elkington & Co., Birmingham, 1879, which sold for $68,750 above a high estimate of $5,000.
Ahead of the sale Christies collaborated with Alexandra ONeill, designer of the ready-to-wear line Markarian, and CeCe Barfield Thompson principal of the interior design firm CeCe Barfield, Inc. The guest auction tastemakers created capsule collections of dresses and homeware inspired by the objects in the auction and sold exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman in New York. The tastemakers also selected objects from the sale to create a series of vignettes and co-hosted Christies Lates with Bergdorf Goodman on Monday, August 19, which was free and open to the public and welcomed approximately 400 guests into the galleries.

The online sale Chinese and Japanese Export Silver Online: Property from the Collection of Myrna and Bernard Posner, totaled $245,000, and was 100% sold by lot and value. The top lot of the sale was a Chinese export silver two-handled presentation cup and cover, mark of Quan, Canton, probably retailed by Lee Ching, Canton, Hong Kong and Shanghai, circa 1900, which realized $13,750 above a high estimate of $6,000.
