HONG KONG.- Bonhams, the international auction house, announced the appointment of Bobbie Hu as Chairman, Greater China. Ms. Hu will assume the leadership role working with Bonhams’ specialists on developing business and client relationships in the region. She will begin with the Company on 1 October 2019, reporting to Edward Wilkinson, Bonhams’ Executive Director, Asia.

Ms. Hu has a prolific career in the luxury and auction industry for nearly thirty years, holding senior positions and driving the business of some of the world’s most time-honoured brands. She joins Bonhams from an 18-year-tenure at BVLGARI, where her leadership has guided the jeweler through growth and expansion in the region, first as Managing Director, Taiwan, before rising to Chairman and Greater China High End Products Director, a role in which she developed deep relationships with top private collectors across the region. Previously in the 1990s, Ms. Hu joined the auction business representing Christie’s in Taiwan, which then led her to the role at Sotheby’s Taiwan as Managing Director.

Edward Wilkinson, Bonhams’ Executive Director, Asia, commented: “I am delighted to welcome Bobbie to Bonhams as Chairman, Greater China. Her immense knowledge of the region’s business environment, together with her strong track record of leading luxury brands, will strengthen our further development in the region.”

Bobbie Hu, Bonhams’ Chairman, Greater China, said of her appointment: “I am excited to be coming back to the auction world with Bonhams, a company that celebrates such a long-standing history of expertise. I look forward to bringing exceptional properties and the highest level of service to both new and seasoned collectors from Greater China, and working with them to discover the rewarding experience of collecting.”
