CEDAR CITY, UT.- Southern Utah Museum of Art is temporarily known as Southern Utah Museum of Miniature Art as it opens A Very Big Tiny Art Show, in partnership with Tiny Art Show.
A Very Big Tiny Art Show is a two-week long pop-up exhibition put on by SUMA and Tiny Art Show, based in Provo, UT. The show features 26 artists from across Utah, showcasing various styles and media including painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, letterpress and more. All artwork featured in the show is 3-by-3 inches or smaller, encouraging visitors to immerse themselves in a more intimate exploration of art.
We are always looking to introduce our visitors to new ways of thinking about art, and we are thrilled to provide them with a different and engaging experience, said Mallory Sanders, head of collections and exhibitions at SUMA. This is the first time SUMA has done an exhibition to this scale, and we are grateful for the chance to partner with Tiny Art Show to expand this experience beyond our community.
Tiny Art Show is a community art project that installs miniature art exhibitions in unexpected spaces with the goal of making viewing art more accessible and fun. A Very Big Tiny Art Show marks Tiny Art Shows largest exhibition and first show in southern Utah.
We are so excited to come to SUMA for our first show in southern Utah! This will be our biggest show yet, packed with so much talent, said McKay Lenker Bayer, creator of tiny art show. Our favorite thing about this show has been getting to work with so many amazing local artists. Like all of our opening receptions, this show will have tiny treats, tiny booklets, tiny art and a few tiny surprises!
A Very Big Tiny Art Show runs through Oct. 12 in the vestibule area of the museum. While SUMAs main gallery space will be closed from Oct. 6 12, visitors will still be able to visit the museum to view the tiny exhibition.
Featured artists for the exhibition are: Kara Aina, Brooke Bowen, Gina Dodge, Rachel Erickson, Rachel Godfrey, Audrey Hancock, Jeff Hanson, Nicholas Hemingway, Kimberly Ipson, Mary Jabens, Emily E.
