LUXEMBOURG .- For its fifth anniversary,
Luxembourg Art Week went all out! By substantially increasing the overall exhibition space and the number of exhibitors from 48 to 65 it reacted to the ever increasing demand from local and international galleries, while continuing to raise the overall quality of the art on display and the international renown of the fair.
With more than 15,000 visitors (against 12,500 last year), an overwhelmingly positive feedback by the exhibitors and a significantly higher total turnover, it is fair to say that all its targets have been met. Likewise, the participants in the newly created First Call section underlined the positive impression of the local and regional art market they were able to gain.
I was really impressed by the quality of the galleries and the art shown at the fair this year. Justine Jacquemin, Director, Galerie Dys (Take Off)
Characteristically, this years fair also further developed its institutional partnerships, among others through an onsite exhibition project by the Luxembourgish artist Daniel Wagener organised by Casino Luxembourg, a special programme of conferences and performances at Mudam Luxembourg, a cycle of seminars and round tables co-organised with the University of Luxembourg and specially tailored visits for art lovers associations from the Greater Region. In creating these synergies, Luxembourg Art Week yet again confirmed its role as a driving force in the cultural dynamics of the region and beyond.
By venturing into the public space with a monumental sculpture by Erwin Wurm at Rond-Point Schuman, the fair also emphasised its attachment to the cultural life of the City of Luxembourg, one of its main supporters since the beginning. Besides the visit of HRH Grand Duke Jean, Prime Minister Xavier Bettel and Minister of Culture Sam Tanson, the after-party at Casino Luxembourg and the numerous receptions organised by its sponsors once again contributed to creating the unique convivial atmosphere that characterises the fair and makes it the largest artistic gathering in the region.
And if you werent able to make it to the fair personally, you may still browse our online catalogue and plan your visit next year!
