KHARTOUM, SUDAN.- French Henri Loyrette, director of Louvre Museum, gave a press conference in Khartoum, 22 December 2004. Loyrette also received a gift from the Sudanese Museum. On March 28, 2001, the French government announced the appointment of Henri Loyrette, head of the Orsay Museum, to be the new director of the Louvre Museum. The 48-year-old arts administrator and historian thus moved across the Seine River on April 14 to take on the responsibility of running the national museum of France, the largest in the country and one of the largest and most important.
