SAN FRANCISCO, CA.- Turner Auctions + Appraisals is pleased to present Russian & European Fine and Decorative Arts on Saturday, March 14, 2020. The online auction features a diverse selection of 335 artworks, antiques and collectibles, sourced from various collectors and estates. In addition to Russia and Europe, other areas of the world are represented as well, including China, Japan, Bali, Africa, and the American Southwest.

Turner Auctions + Appraisals begins its online auction on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at 10:30 am PST; sale items are available for preview and bidding now. The auction will be featured live on multiple platforms: LiveAuctioneers, Invaluable, Bidsquare, iCollector, and Turner Auctions + Appraisals’ free mobile app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Apps ("Turner Auctions"). All are easily accessed through ‘Upcoming Auctions’ at the company’s website.

Artworks in sale include those from the 17th-20th centuries in various media and types: oil, watercolor, etchings, lithographs, posters and sculptures. Among the highlights are works of Russia or attributed to Russian artists, 18th-century paintings of saints and other religious subjects, and Tibetan thangka. There are also a number of porcelain painted portrait plaques, and other porcelain pieces from Sèvres, Dresden and Lladró. The auction's many Meissen pieces include decorative and serving pieces, tableware, and figurines.

The wide selection of decorative arts features continental vases; a Baccarat art glass sculpture; art pottery; a giant clam shell; duck decoys; masks from Bali, Nepal and Africa; Mughal and Balinese paintings; antique books; a pistol and bayonet; and Asian and Middle Eastern rugs. From China are Buddha, stone carvings, jars, vases, bowls, jewelry boxes, cinnabar, snuff bottles, boxes, calligraphy, screens, scrolls, hardstone trees, and more. From Japan are collector's plates and woodblock prints, including Toshi Yoshida. From the Southwest are Native American baskets, carvings and kachina dolls. Among other lots are Franklin Mint cameos, sterling animal plates and an etching; guardian figures; pewter classic cars; presidential coins and ingots; crystal and mineral specimens; daguerreotypes; Mexican pottery; postcards; and novelty images of San Francisco.

Lot 57: Artist: Leon Schulman Gaspard (1882-1964). Subject/Title: Peasant group, Russia. Signed in Latin and inscribed "Russie (lower left). Medium: Graphite and oil on canvas laid on board. Size: 10 5/8" x 13 3/4". Estimate $7,000 - $9,000.

Lot 143: A 19th-Century Tibetan Thangka of a Teacher. With reverse handprint signature, measuring 40 inches high x 34 wide. Estimate $500 - $700.

Lot 35: An 18th-Century Biblical Painting. Artist: Unsigned. Subject/Title: Christ child and cherubs in a landscape. Date created: 18th century. Medium: Oil on canvas. Size Image: 32 1/2 inches high x 43 1/2. Size Frame: 38 inches high x 49. Condition: Over all good, small puncture lower left, small paint loss upper left. Estimate $1,000 - $2,000.

Lot 213: 19th-Century Japanese Woodblock Diptych. Artist: Unsigned. Subject/Title: A 19th century shogi game (Japanese chess). Date created: 19th century. Medium: Woodblock diptych. Size Image: 14 inches high x 19. Size Frame: 25 1/2 inches high x 30 1/2. Condition: Good. Estimate $500 - $700.

Lot 39: Artist: David II Teniers (Attrib.) (1610-1690). Subject/Title: 17th-century continental village scene. Date created: Early 17th century. Medium: Oil on board. Size image: 12 inches high x 18 1/4. Size Frame: 17 inches high x 23. Condition: Good. Estimate: $800 – 1,200.

Lot 52: Artist: Valentin A. Serov (Attrib.) (1865-1911). Subject/Title: Medium: Oil on paperboard/cardboard. Size: 16 1/2 x 14 1/2. Signed: upper right in Cyrillic. Condition: overall good condition, showing frame abrasion. Estimate $3,000 - $5,000.

Lot 7: Rectangular Painted Porcelain Plaque of Madonna and Child, in a gilt wooden frame. Overall-H-12.25", W-9.5" Plaque-H-6.5", W-4.25" Condition: Excellent. Estimate $200 - $400.

Lot 55: Artist: Philippe Mercier (Attrib.) (1689-1760). Subject/Title: Portrait of C. W. Bampfylde. Medium: Oil on canvas. Size: 57" x 47". A large and impressive late 18th-century oil on canvas portrait of C. W. Bampfylde. Estimate $3,000 - $5,000.

Lot 174: A Bronze Buddha. Measuring 8 inches high x 6 1/2 x 4. Estimate $300 - $500.

Lot 216: Artist: Frances Hammell Gearhart (1869-1958). Subject/Title: Canyon landscape. Date Created: Early 20th century. Medium: Woodblock print. Size image: 13 inches high x 10. Size Fame: 21 inches high x 17 1/2. Condition: Good. Estimate $100 - $150.

Lot 54: Artist: Il'ia Efimovich Repin (Attrib.) (1844 - 1930). Subject/Title: Portrait of a gentleman. Date created: 1881. Medium: Oil on board. Signed: lower middle left in Cyrillic.
