HELENA, MONTANA.- Ceramic artist Ken Ferguson, who served as director, board member and instructor at the Archie Bray Foundation. Born Elwood, Indiana in 1928. He studied at the American Academy of Art, Chicago and at the Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh, where he received his B.F.A., in 1952. In 1954 he was awarded his M.F.A. from Alfred University, New York. He has taught at various institutions, including Carnegie Institute, Alfred University, and the Archie Bray Foundation in Montana. From 1964 he has headed the ceramics department of the Kansas City Art Institute becoming professor emeritus of ceramics in 1996. Under Ferguson's influence KCAI has become one of the most important ceramics schools in the country.
