MELBOURNE.- As MPavilion 2019 by Australia’s most celebrated architect Glenn Murcutt AO closed on Wednesday, March 18, all of us at MPavilion have been coming up with alternate ways to mindfully and responsibly share our season.

Here you will find a regularly updated archive of recordings from talks and readings from the first MPavilion season in 2014 to the present day, accessible anywhere in the world.

Featured podcasts:

MTalks—The Art Museum In Flux with Sir Nicholas Serota

Join Chair of Arts Council Englandand former Tate director Sir Nicholas Serota CH in a fascinating conversation with Rebecca Coates, director of the Shepparton Art Museum. Over the past 20 years we have seen very significant changes in the way in which art museums work with artists and how they engage with their public. At MPavilion 2018, Sir Nicholas Serota CH discussed the impact of these changes on the outlook and programs of museums with special reference to the evolution of Tate during the period in which he led on the creation of Tate Modern, the adoption of a wider international perspective and the development of a new approach to audiences.

MTalks—Deep Listening BLAKitecture series

The BLAKitecture forum brings together Indigenous built environment practitioners on the Yaluk-ut Weelam land of the Boon Wurrung people. The forum co-curated by MPavilion’s Sarah Lynn Rees and Jack Mitchell aims to centralise Indigenous voices in conversations about architecture, the representation of histories, the present state and the future of our built environments. When asked what needs to change in order for the process of architecture to be more meaningful and respectful of Indigenous peoples, a common answer is time. Time to undertake proper engagement processes. This forum will explore the concept of deep listening and what it means for the built environment.

Join MPavilion 2017 architects Rem Koolhaas and David Gianotten of OMA; Naomi Milgrom; and our host, leading Australian journalist, author and broadcaster, Virginia Trioli. Together they discuss their new favourite topic: MPavilion 2017. Specifically, their hopes and dreams for the project, the intentions and provocations in the design, and new ideas on architecture and design.

MPavilion is Australia’s leading architecture commission and design event, made possible through the vision of Australian philanthropist Naomi Milgrom AO. MPavilion is a philanthropic success story that has seen government, business and private sectors collaborate to bring an important new civic space to Melbourne with strong public, industry and educational components, and is supported by major partners City of Melbourne, the Victorian State Government through Creative Victoria and Development Victoria, ANZ and RACV.

MPavilion’s 2020 architect will be announced later in the year.
