Lark Mason Associates announces online bidding for 2 Asian art sales

NEW YORK, NY.- Lark Mason Associates will present two major Asian art sales: Chinese Export Porcelain and Works of Art from an American Collector– will open for bidding on www.igavelauctions.com on March 31-April 21st,, with the second one– Asian, Ancient, Ethnographic Works of Art- commencing on April 2-23rd.

With over 1,000 lots, these two sales will a wide array of decorative Asian works of art and will appeal to a broad base of collectors,” says Lark Mason.

Some of the major highlights in Chinese Export Porcelain and Works of Art from an American Collector include a finely painted 18th Export Hong Kong Bowl (estimate: $15,000-25,000), illustrating the merchant houses of Canton, made in limited quantities for the western merchants active in Canton for the China Trade; a fine gilded bronze vessel by Hu Wenming, a Chinese bronze artisan whose works created during the late Ming dynasty, featuring his signature imagery of mythical creatures in a band across the swelled body (Estimate: $3,000 to $5,000); and a selection of seven 18th century Himalayan gilt bronzes with a highlight Hayagriva and Consort, with the group estimate to realize over $50,000.

According to Mason, of the approximately 150 lots offered in this sale, a large number of the items were purchased from such venerable firms as S. Marchant & Son, Philip Suvall, E & J Frankel, Joseph and Earl D.Vandekar, the Sotheby’s 1940’s Yamanaka Collection, and Ralph M. Chait Galleries.

Highlights from the Asian, Ancient, Ethnographic Works of Art sale include:
a pair of cloisonné and gilt bronze scrolls in a fitted huanghuali box, dating to the Qing dynasty (Estimate: $10,000- 15,000) and an archaic style ewer with cloisonne´ stand dating to the late Qing dynasty (Estimate: $15,000-20,000).
