Call for Entries Imaginary Places/Real Spaces



LONG BEACH, CA.- Long Beach Arts, starting its 81st year, announces a Call for Entries for its Imaginary Places/Real Spaces exhibition, February 26 to April 2, 2005. Entries are due January 22. The exhibition is open to all artists in all media except film and video, performance, crafts and jewelry.

Timeline: Slide/Fee/Entry Deadline: January 22; Artwork Delivery: February 20 & 21, Noon to 4 p.m.; Exhibition Opens: February 26; Reception & Awards: February 27, 2 to 4 p.m.; Exhibition Closes: April 2; Artwork Pick-up: April 3 & 4, Noon to 4 p.m.

About the Juror: Christopher Miles. Artist, curator, writer, teacher, Christopher Miles wears many hats in the arts environment. Miles' writings have appeared in Artforum, Artforum.com, Art in America, Artweek, Flaunt, Frieze, as well as the L.A. Times, Art Nexus, Art Papers, ArtScene, assorted exhibition catalogs, and many more! He is one of three curators working on Thing: New Sculpture from Los Angeles, opening at the Hammer Museum in February 2005. Currently an Assistant Professor of Art Theory and Criticism at California State University, Long Beach, he has also taught at Claremont Graduate University, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, and the University of Southern California.
