Zabludowicz Collection gives artists who have had upcoming shows cancelled a platform to still perform
DFW (Down for Whatever) is a new IGTV series.

LONDON.- Zabludowicz Collection announced DFW (Down For Whatever), a new IGTV Series for music and art lovers all over the world. Featuring a range of international performers and artists with music at the centre of their practice. Taking note of the situation we all find ourselves in and the need for inspiring new material that is made for social media broadcast, not adapted to it, and the need to support performance based practice that at this time finds itself without the possibility of a public and with an uncertain future.

Curated by Mamiko Motto with Zabludowicz Collection, DFW will push at the creative boundaries of music and art. These ‘traditional’ constraints are no longer a concern of many of today’s creative practitioners. Known for supporting and nurturing emerging artists the Zabludowicz Collection are using this time to extend their reach and give space to creativity in all forms, and finding the right medium for the platforms available right now.

In March, Zabludowicz Collection postponed Hot With Excess: A Season of Contemporary Artists’ Opera but have continued to investigate and consider the different ways that music and performance is being used at this time. DFW is the first performance-led IGTV series from the Zabludowicz Collection. Artists will be announced the day before their show on Instagram and the duration of each will be between 10 and 40 minutes.

Asian Dope Boys (Tianzhou Chen) BEIJING
Collectively known as the Asian Dope Boys (ADB), this Shanghai-based, multi disciplinary group creates performances that straddle music, drag, S&M and art. Director, Tianzhuo Chen (China, 1985) choreographs transgressive ceremonies that take in club, internet and pop culture as well as Tibetan Buddhist, Hindu, and traditional Chinese aesthetics. Constantly twisting between many genres the work defies definition and is addictively hypnotic journey between art forms and worlds.

Zabludowicz Collection are delighted to stream an exclusive edit of TRANCE (demo), taken from the 12 Hour Long performance filmed in October 2019 at M Woods in Beijing.

Chevel TREVISO
Chevel is the main pseudonym of Dario Tronchin (Italy, 1989) a techno DJ, label owner and producer whose works range from hypnotic, minimalist floor-fillers to glitchy, intricately programmed experiments.

Originally from Treviso, Tronchin moved to Berlin in 2008 where he spent two years, which had a drastic change on his sound. After this formative period his music was released on Stroboscopic Artefacts and Non Series, Tronchin launched his own label Enklav, formed by a group of like-minded musicians and home for futuristic sound experiments – meanwhile DJing and performing live in clubs and festivals such as Atonal and Berghain. He has been described as “a young producer not just making techno but taking it apart, rearranging it, breaking it.”

In early 2018, Tronchin released his fourth studio album on the London-based label Different Circles where he presented his own take on the distinctive “weightless” sound, coming from a techno and house angle. Glass Works, his new 3 Track EP will be released by GASS in July.

Chevel will be broadcasting from Il Museo Luigi Bailo, Treviso

Hiele ANTWERP
Roman Hiele (Belgium, 1991) is a composer and performer of electronic music. His music surfaces in the form of hard to pin point electronica, built on a long time obsession for synthetic sound creation and jazz studies. On stage Hiele plays with expectation, going past what is considered conventional, blending improvisational and classical elements into a no-nonsense personal idiom.

Hiele has released his music on the Antwerp based label Ekster (Hiele 2013, Essential Oils 2014, Ritmische Bezinning 2016). In 2016 YYAA Recordings released Hiele’s performance in the Schinkel Pavilion, Berlin 2014. Roman Hiele has collaborated in the realms of fashion, documentary film, theatre and art productions.

Mykki Blanco USA
Mykki Blanco is an internationally renowned musician, performing artist and LGBTQ+ activist. His self-titled debut album was released in 2016. He is also the person behind mixtapes like Gay Dog Food, and the groundbreaking mixtape that defined the ‘Queer Rap’ genre ‘Cosmic Angel’. Blanco has created cult hits like Kingpinning with sensational videos like Coke White, Starlight, The Initiation, Wavvy, Haze Boogie Life, the award winning High School Never Ends and his latest Wypipo short film. The multi-faceted star continues to crossover from the underground having toured with the likes of Bjork, Major Lazer and Death Grips while working with such diverse musicians as Kathleen Hanna and Woodkid. Mykki Blanco is a creative polymath whose journey from artist to seasoned musician is as exciting to watch as it is to listen to.
