DAHSUR, EGYPT.- A Japanese research team from Tokyo's Waseda University has discovered a perfect mummy in Dahshur North in northern Egyp. The mummy was in a sealed wooden coffin in an unrobbed Egyptian tomb believed to be more than 3500 years old.
Sakuji Yoshimura, head of the team, said the mummified man was believed to be from a period 3500 to 4000 years ago. This would make him older than the era of Tutankhamen. The mummy wears a mask painted blue and red that still retained vivid shades. The mummy had esxaped robbery and other kinds of damages. The coffin was painted yellow and inscribed with hieroglyphics in light blue, adding the hieroglyphics showed the mummified man was an administrative officer.
