RENSSELAERVILLE, N.Y.- Architect George Dudley, 90, died at his country estate in Rensselaerville. He helped design the United Nations, together with Wallace K. Harrison. He served as dean of architecture at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy. Later he established the school of architecture and urban planning at the University of California at Los Angeles. Harrison and Dudley designed together the Rockefeller Center, Lincoln Center and the Empire State Plaza in Albany. Dudley established the first master of fine arts program in urban planning at Yale in 1941. He later worked on creating low-cost housing in developing countries.
Andy Rooney, CBS commentator on "60 Minutes" once said, "The whole world would be a lot better looking if George Dudley had been in charge of it."
