HOUSTON, TX.- Contemporary Arts Museum Houston announced that Seba Raquel Suber has been appointed Director of Finance and Strategic Resources. Suber begins her tenure with CAMH immediately. In this role, she will lead the financial administration of the Museum, guided by a specific mandate to ensure CAMH’s resources are aligned to our mission and strategic goals of directly supporting artists and promoting equity.
Prior to this role, Suber was Chief Executive Officer at Houston Museum of African American Culture. Her previous leadership experience includes serving as Director of Finance and Operations for St. Stephen’s Episcopal School and Church, and Director of Finance for Houston’s Project Row Houses. In addition, she has been principal and owner of S. Suber Consulting Group—a boutique consultancy for multiple for-profit and not-for-profit organizations advising in capacity building, finance, operations, business development, internal controls, and other services supporting long-term sustainability through planning and measurable tools.

Suber becomes the newest member of the Museum’s expanding leadership team alongside McGraw; Deputy Director, Janice Bond; Director of Development, Cheryl Newcomb; Director of Education and Public Programs, Felice Cleveland; and Director of Communications and Marketing, Kent Michael Smith.

This strategic visioning will continue to lead us into the future and build local and global experiences through contemporary art and culture.”
Suber received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Houston and began her Master’s work at Columbia University in New York City at the Institute for Research in African American Studies. Suber has been a trusted thought partner and creative financial/business professional with over 15 years’ experience between nonprofit, government, and corporate sectors, with an emphasis in Black art and culture. Her diverse background spans business and strategic planning pursuits alongside a passion for community development, Black studies, and performing and visual arts. She is deeply committed to social change work and innovation from its simplest form. She has personally maintained a practice as a dance educator and jewelry designer alongside her professional life. She is the wife of artist and educator Anthony Suber, and mother of two daughters.
On commencing her role at CAMH in this pivotal moment, Suber said, “In these unprecedented times and within our current contemporary climate, it is a great opportunity to reimagine and craft new vision and innovate. It is also the right time to continue to foster indelible conversations that create space to listen, transform, and engage our communities in a new and thoughtful way.”
