NEW YORK, NY.- Poster House will welcome back visitors with new, reduced hours, from 11 am–7 pm, Thursday through Sunday. (They're reserving 11 am–12 pm for visitors in higher-risk groups.) Their staff has been trained on PPE usage and state health guidelines and is preparing the museum accordingly.

Members will be welcomed back from August 20-23, with the museum opening up to the general public in the days following. Timed tickets are available to purchase in advance via the museum's new online ticket portal. Another exciting note––Poster House will offer suggested donation admissions for their first month back!

Two stellar exhibitions that opened right before the shutdown will remain on view through February 14, 2021: The Sleeping Giant: Posters & The Chinese Economy and The Swiss Grid. True to the spirit of the young museum, these two shows explore the full scope of the poster’s role in society—as a window into social, political, and economic history on the one hand, and the evolution of mass communication and graphic design on the other.

They'll also feature a rotating selection of posters by Amos Kennedy from their permanent collection. Kennedy is a letterpress printer based in Detroit whose beautifully layered pieces are a great combination of wit and history, calling attention to past and present experiences of race, labor, art, and printing.

Even though Poster House has been closed to the public these past few months, they've been hard at work on a number of initiatives responding to the current moment. They spearheaded the #COMBATCOVID PSA campaign, which was featured on screens across NYC (including iconic, sky-high ones in Times Square); produced the Coronavirus: Chinatown Stories series with James Beard Award winner Grace Young; an continue to maintain an extensive online resource looking at the history of Posters in Protest along with so much more.
