NEW YORK, NY.- Salon Art + Design, produced by Sanford L. Smith + Associates, announces that it will not take place this November. Over these past months, the fair has worked diligently with New York City, State, and Park Avenue Armory with the aim of producing a safe, healthy, and stunning event; but in the end concluded that conditions are not appropriate for an event of this scale to take place in New York this year.

In lieu of a live, in-person fair, Salon Art + Design announced the production of a luxurious print magazine: Salon, The Intersection of Art & Design. Salon will be sent to over 30,000 of the VIP’s and Collectors from the fair’s very influential list, and all top designers, architects, and collectors will receive a copy. Produced in conjunction with Cultureshock Media, known for their outstanding publications by such entities as Sotheby’s, The Tate, and the V&A, the magazine is intended to be a highly sought collector’s item.

Executive Director of Salon Art + Design, Jill Bokor, along with other Salon team members, cut their teeth in the editorial and publishing industries before pivoting to fairs. Bokor’s extensive experience in publishing began at New York magazine, later serving as publisher and editorial director of the internationally influential Art + Auction from 1984-1999 and such publications as I.D. Magazine, Architecture, Interiors, and Art & Antiques from 2000-2010.

“Many of us, with a professional background in magazines, combined our editorial and visual skills to bring events like Salon Art + Design to life. We are now returning to our roots, translating the DNA of the fair into a collectible, thoughtful publication, which celebrates the unmatched quality of our exhibitors, collectors and guests.” says Bokor.

In addition, because the fair acknowledges that there is no substitute for seeing works on display in a gallery or home, a digital, interactive component will be incorporated into the printed piece and an on-line version will be promoted and available to web visitors.

Salon Art + Design, fully committed to the wholehearted support of their exhibitors, will fully reimburse all galleries who submitted deposits prior to the fair’s cancellation.

Plans are underway for Salon Art + Design 2021 - the fair’s 10th year anniversary - by which time it is hoped that the world will be in a considerably brighter place.
