U-M Museum of Art Launches New Comprehensive Website

ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN.- The University of Michigan Museum of Art has launched a new website with an entirely new look and feel, additional features including improved graphics and greater usability and functionality, as well as a section devoted to University of Michigan students and more comprehensive exhibitions and collections information. Designed and produced by UM Marketing Communications and supported in part through the generosity of the UM Office of the Vice President for Communications, the revitalized site comes at a time of heightened attention for UMMA in the midst of a $35 million building campaign to dramatically expand and renovate its facility.

“UMMA’s beautiful new website is an integral part of the Museum’s communications toolkit that allows us to better inform and interact with our diverse audiences, near and far,” said Director James Steward. “My warm thanks go to VP Lisa Rudgers and the talented staff at Marketing Communications for creating such a wonderful site, and to the Museum’s own communications team for expertly shepherding the process.”

One important component that carries forward from UMMA’s previous website design is the ability to comprehensively search UMMA’s collections. UMMA was one of the first art museums in the country to digitize its holdings, offering cyber-visitors the opportunity to explore the collections in depth for nearly a decade now. This very popular capability plays a key role in the Museum’s educational accessibility for scholars, students, and the general public, allowing the user to create custom portfolios of favorite works. This access tool will be critical as the Museum’s collections continue to grow and as the Museum undergoes a period of transition in the years to come.

The redesigned U-M Museum of Art website can be found at the same online address: www.umma.umich.edu.
