NEW YORK, NY.- The Couture House Schiaparelli has partnered with Christie’s to host a special auction benefitting the Obama Foundation’s Girls Opportunity Alliance, a program designed to empower adolescent girls around the world through education.

Christie’s will host an online sale, Schiaparelli: Regina King Emmy Outfits, Proceeds Intended to Support the Obama Foundation’s Girls Opportunity Alliance, which will be open for bidding 23-30 October and on public display at Christie’s Los Angeles through its Beverly Hills gallery-front windows as well as by private appointment. All of the proceeds will be donated to the Girls Opportunity Alliance.

The sale will include two custom Schiaparelli looks, designed by Daniel Roseberry, worn by Regina King to the 72nd Emmy Awards to accept her award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series for Watchmen:

• A Haute Couture asymmetric bustier dress in electric blue, made of embroidered faille with 250 encrusted multicolored jewels. The dress, worn by Regina King for a virtual red carpet moment of the Awards, was made in Paris in the atelier of Maison Schiaparelli in Place Vendôme. The making of the dress required 270 hours of work and 12 meters of silk faille

• A Ready-to-Wear double-breasted wool suit with embellished ‘bijoux’ buttons and matching trousers, in the iconic Schiaparelli Shocking pink, which she styled on the night with her own shirt honoring the memory of Breonna Taylor.

Regina King explains: “Working with Schiaparelli has been very gratifying. They are an historic brand that represents class and a positive work ethic which are the same values I try to live by. Supporting the Obama Foundation’s Girls Opportunity Alliance is another example of why working with Schiaparelli has been so rewarding.”

Daniel Roseberry, Artistic Director, Schiaparelli, states, “Ms. King is an icon, both of her craft and of this moment. I couldn't be more honored to have dressed her for the 2020 Emmy awards and am proud to support the Girls Opportunity Alliance. We at Maison Schiaparelli join the Obama Foundation in celebrating the inherent power of women and are committed to inspiring and supporting adolescent girls through the empowering nature of fashion.”

Jennifer Zatorski, President, Christie’s Americas, comments: “Throughout this year, Christie’s has worked with corporate partners and charitable organizations to find innovative ways to raise vital funds during these disrupted times. We are so pleased to be able to offer our online sale platform to host this special two-lot auction of Regina King’s custom Schiaparelli looks, which will benefit the Obama Foundation’s Girls Opportunity Alliance and support their mission of empowering adolescent girls around the world through education.”

In addition to all proceeds being donated to Girls Opportunity Alliance, Schiaparelli will also be gifting the original sketch of each look, signed by both Creative Director Daniel Roseberry and Regina King, and offer a complimentary alteration service for the individual who acquires the pieces.
