NEW YORK, NY.- Christie’s Rare Watches New York: Online (November 24 – December 10) achieved a total of $7,743,375 with 83% sold by lot, 100% sold by value, and 102% hammer above low estimate. There was global participation from 34 countries with 42% new sale registrants.

The top lot of the sale was the magnificent Patek Philippe reference 1463 in pink gold retailed by Serpico Y Laino, which sold for $600,000, establishing the record for the most valuable watch sold in a Christie’s online sale. Three additional auction records were set including the world auction record for a Patek Philippe Nautilus reference 3800, which achieved $312,500; a Cartier “Crash” in yellow gold that sold for $225,000, over three times its initial estimate; and the F.P. Journe Platinum, Chronometre Souverain, De Boulle Edition, No. 547-Cs, which sold for $100,000, over four times its initial estimate.

Other notable results included a Patek Philippe reference 2499 in yellow gold that realized $512,500; a magnificently preserved Rolex reference 6236 now known as “Jean Claude Killy” named after the celebrated Olympic skier and Rolex ambassador, which sold for $312,500; and a very rare stainless steel Rolex "Paul Newman Panda" ref. 6263 with tropical dial, that achieved $400,000.

Remi Guillemin, Specialist, Christie’s Watches, “The strong results of this sale demonstrate the continued strength of Christie’s online platform and its ability to reach the broadest possible global audience. Going into this season, we made the deliberate decision to combine our live and online auction into one comprehensive online sale. Achieving over $7.7m, the success of this strategy has been reinforced as this sale has established the highest valued online watches sale ever offered at Christie’s. Additionally, this sale was the first Christie’s online auction to offer a timepiece with an estimate of over $400,000 and we are delighted that the Patek Philippe reference 1463 sold for $600,000, setting a new record for a watch sold online at Christie’s. Throughout this year, we have seen incredible engagement from current collectors and new buyers alike. This sale reinforces Christie’s online-first strategy and the strong appetite of our collectors from around the world.”
