Call for Fellows at International Research Center |

|
KYOTO, JAPAN.- The International Research Center for the Arts (IRCA) calls for ambitious Fellows to deploy new creations of the 21st century from Kyoto to the world.
The twentieth century was a time of great contrast: Humanity made rapid progress in science and technology even as it sank into confrontation and conflict among different nations, religions, and ethnicities, poverty, starvation, and slaughter. Even now the contradictions of modern civilization are apparent all around the world. In order to make the twenty-first century a time of peace and hope, the spirit of art and the role it plays will be critical.
The International Research Center for the Arts (IRCA) was established to bring people with a spirit of art together from around the globe, transcending generations, ethnicity, and national borders, and to nurture and transmit a vision of hope and a new worldview into the future.
As a means of making this vision a reality, the IRCA accepts artists every year to participate as Fellows in its artist-in-residence program held at the Kyoto University of Art and Design (KUAD). Three internationally active artists - Hiroshi Senju, Tatsuo Miyajima, and Yasumasa Morimura - serve as professors for the IRCA, which seeks Fellows with the goal of nurturing artists who can create art in Kyoto and share it with the world. The Fellow Program is based on the ideals of these three artists, who hope to foster the talents of those who will become active on the global stage. The project became a reality thanks to the harmony between the passion of the artists and the principles of KUAD.
